John and Patsy Ramsey on behalf of their son, Burke Ramsey filed lawsuit against the Time Warner Companies, Inc in federal court for $4 million dollars. Time picked up the Star's stories in May 1999 with headlines as "Extra: Tabloid Solves JonBenet Case! Star magazine reports that police now think the brother did it. Don't laugh." On July 5, 2001, from the "Law.com" article, "A federal judge in New York City approved the settlement after a hearing Monday. The terms will remain confidential, according to the Ramseys' lawyer, attorney L. Lin Wood Jr. Ramsey v. AOL Time Warner, No. 00-CV-3477 (S.D. N.Y. July 2, 2001)." |
