Dear Jams Jameson,
Because of my notoriety as a text analyst, I get asked every day
about the Ramsey case. (I'm the Vassar prof. who identified Joe
Klein as the author of the best seller *Primary Colors* "by
Anonymous," just three weeks after the book was published and
six months before Klein confessed; I'm currently serving as an
expert witness in the unabom case.) I have no role in the
investigation, nor do I expect to be invited to participate,
either by the Ramseys or by the police. I'm writing this note
for just one reason: to commend you for your internet posts.
You're one of the few folks urging restraint - and about the
only one who's done so with much intelligence and eloquence.
Some of the things being said about the Ramseys on the web are
really vile. The lurid imagination of these folks says more
about themselves than about the Ramsey family. In our country,
people should be innocent until proven guilty - and John and
Patsy Ramsey most definitely have not yet been proved guilty of
anything. Thanks for reminding these anonymous and pseudonymous
voyeurs of that fact...
Best wishes,
Don Foster

1 . "Foster initiated contact with me"

After several weeks of e-mailing back and forth, Donald Foster would do
several things that DID
secure
him a "role in the investigation". FIRST, Foster would contact the District
Attorney in Boulder and tell
him that he, Foster, had found John Andrew on the internet, posting as
"jameson", and that he,
Foster,
believed John Andrew had murdered his sister, JonBenét. Then, on June 10th,
Foster wrote a letter to
his
literary agent and told him that HE, Foster, had "solved this Colorado crime".
He wanted his agent to
find
a magazine willing to publish is report on "Paging JonBenét's Killer". Days
later, he wrote a letter to
Patsy Ramsey. By the end of the month, he would send me certified mail
offering to help me turn
myself in for my part in the crime.
This man is an "expert" who was WRONG! But he was willing to publish his
findings.
And let's not forget his letter to Patsy saying he knew she would be
vindicated - she was innocent.
The man is a joke - and he will profit from his games - THAT is a shame.
