WBBM Update

Fire and Police Commission hearing this afternoon re DP's pension. Commission expected to approve his pension per the Commission attorney. DP has met the age and years of service requirements. He said that the only reason they would have for denying the pension would be if DP was convicted of a felony pertaining to his work as a police officer. The hearing scheduled for next week re BPD Police Chief's decision to reject DP's letter of resignation has no real bearing on the decision to approve or deny DP's pension. DP's pension will amount to $72,000 per year, He could receive his first check as soon as next month.
