At that time Caylee's mother, Casey, said on the July 15, 2008 911 call that her daughter had been missing for "31 days." SUPPLEMENT #0643 - INCIDENT REPORT (07/17/08):

Narrative:

On this date I was contacted by Cpl. Y. Melich (2684), in reference a missing child. I responded to 2500 W. Colonial Drive, Orange County Sheriffs Office Forensic storage bay reference to a cadaver search with my K-9 partner, "Gerus."

I gave K-9 "Gerus" his cadaver search command. I started my search of the white two door vehicle from the drivers side front finder, working in a counter clock wise direction. K-9 "Gerus" gave a final trained alert at the rear passenger finder / trunk.

K-9 "Gerus" is trained to detect and alert on the odor of human decomposition. Cpl. Y. Melich was notified.
