SUPPLEMENT #12 - INCIDENT REPORT (08/12/08):

Narrative:

on July 22, 2008, while performing as child abuse/Missing Person's Detective for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, I attended a squad staffing regarding a missing child named Caylee Anthony. Sergeant John Allen and Detective Corporal Yuri Melich directed me to respond to the Sawgrass Apartment Community located at 2859 S, Conway Road in Orlando, Florida, They directed me to pair up with a detective from the Sheriffs Office Sexual Offender Squad (SOS) and conduct a door-to-door canvass of the community for any citizens who may have any insights regarding the missing person investigation.

Detective Pete Marino of the Sexual Offender Squad was detailed to conduct the canvass with me, Detective Marino and I arrived at the complex management office at approximately 1100 hours On July 22nd, 2008, I met with Community Manager Amanda Macklin in her private office, I told Ms, Macklin of the purpose of our visit to her community and asked her for a map of her community, I told her the map would aid us in our efforts to ensure every apartment and building was engaged during our canvass.

Ms, Macklin confirmed she had spoke with Detective Corporal Melich and Detective Kevin Kraubetz regarding the missing person investigation, Ms. Macklin informed me she had been following the case In the media and confirmed she had assisted Detective Corporal Melich on July 16th, 2008 by providing him with lease information regarding apartment #210 within the building located at 2863 S, Conway Road, Ms, Macklin advised she had been informed by Detective Corporal Melich, at the onset of his investigation, that Caylee Anthony may have been dropped off with a babysitter at that apartment She volunteered she had conducted a check of her management database and informed Detective Corporal Melich the apartment had been vacant since February of 2008.

I made telephone contact with Detective Corporai Melich and confirmed he had met with Ms_ Macklin previously, I told him I had made contact with her and inquired if I could assist him in his investigation by taking a formal statement from her. He confirmed a formal statement was needed from Ms, Macklin and authorized me to solicit it

SUPPLEMENT #12 - INCIDENT REPORT (08/12/08):

from her.

Ms, Macklin provided me with a sworn written statement detailing her assistance to Detective Corporal Melich on July 16th, 2008 and her insights regarding the occupancy of 2863 S, Conway Road, apartment #210, and a visitation to the property by a prospective resident named Zenaida Gonzalez. Ms. Macklin confirmed, within her statement, she was the property manager and had engaged Detective Corporal Melich regarding the missing person investigation on July 16th, 2008. She advised Detective Corporal Melich had told her a search was being conducted for a lost girl named Caylee. Ms. Macklin reported Detective Corporal Melich had a picture of the missing child stored on a travel drive and he allowed her, and her entire staff, to view the Image to see if they recognized the child. Ms. Macklin reported no one recognized the child.

Ms. Macklin advised, within her written statement, "He (Detective Melich) said that he had information that suggested the child had been left at 2863 S. Conway Road. Apt 210 in early June. I checked our database and informed the detective that Kayley [sic] nor her mother were listed as ever being a resident or applicant for residency of Sawgrass. I also informed the detective that unit 210 was not occupied and hasn't been since late Feburay [sic] of 2008. The reason for the unit being vacant was blc (because) it was under construction. It was last occupied by Joseph Oaks and Stacy Oaks who were evicted from the property on Feburary [sic] 25, 2008 under Orange County Clerk of Court Case #2008CC000825." I asked Ms. Macklin if anyone resided in apartment 110 which was downstairs from apartment 210 and occupied the same stairwell. She reported, within her statement, apartment 110 had never been occupied as it was the community's leasing model.

Ms. Macklin continued her written statement by writing, "I was questioned as to whether or not I recognized the name of Zenaida Gonzalez; which I did not. I cheeked for her information in our databse [sic] and found she had inquired about an apartment at Sawgrass apartments in June 2008. She had expressed interest in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for her self and 'Jasmine and Michelle'. I informed the detective of this and left him know we lost contact with her because her telephone number had been disconnected."

Ms. Macklin willingly turned over a copy of the guest card which recorded the visit of a Ms. Gonzalez to the property. She also provided me with a copy of the lease for the most recent occupants of unit #210. Both documents were copied and included as attachments to this investigative supplemental report. Ms. Macklin turned the documents over to me consensually. She indicated the transfer of the copied documents to me by signing the attached property form. The documents which Ms. Macklin turned over to me were, in turn, placed into evidence. The attached property form indicates the submission of the documents into evidence.

Ms. Macklin also confirmed, in writing, she had been monitoring the news reports regarding the Caylee Anthony missing person investigation. She wrote, "I have been monitoring news reports regarding the missing child for the past week and have since seen footage of the child's mother and grandparents. I do not recognize them as having been residents of visitors to the property," Her statement is attached to this investigative supplemental.

At the conclusion of this engagement Detective Marino and I conducted a canvass of the property. We engaged several residents who confirmed they were following the missing person case In the news media. They also confirmed they had read missing person bulletins which had been disseminated throughout the community. We did not engage any resident who recognized Caylee or her mother from the community. I debriefed Detective Corporal Melich of the aforementioned detail at the conclusion of our visitation to the community.

On August 6th, 2008 I received a telephone call from Detective Corporal Yuri Melich. He asked me to respond to Sawgrass Apartments and engage the leasing agent who had completed the guest card for a prospective occupant named Zenaida Gonzalez. He authorized me to take a formal statement from Mr. Garcia and directed me to secure the "original" copy of Ms, Zenaida Gonzalez' guest visitation card. I responded to the complex and again met with Ms. Amanda Macklin, the Community Manager. She informed me the visit of the property by Ms. Gonzalez had been hosted by leasing consuitant Harry Garcia. I met with Mr. Harry Garcia In Ms. Macklin's office.

Mr. Garcia also confirmed he had been engaged by Detective Corporal Melich on July 16th, 2008 at the onset of the missing person investigation. Mr. Garcia confirmed he had been the leasing consultant who showed the Sawgrass Community to a prospective resident named Zenaida Gonzalez. Mr. Garcia agreed to provide me with a sworn written statement detailing his engagement of Detective Corporal Melich and his recollections of Ms. Gonzalez' visit to the property.

Mr. Garcia confirmed Detective Corporal Melich came to the Sawgrass Community on July 16th, 2008. He reported the Property Manager, Ms. Amanda Macklin, called for him to join her and Detective Corporal Melich in

her office. Mr. Garcia wrote, "Amanda showed me a guest card bearing the name of Zenaida Gonzalez. I looked at the card and recognized my handwriting on the visitation card. Detective Melich asked me if I remembered the visit or if I remembered Ms. Gonzalez. I told him I remembered the name but didn't remember the person. He showed me, what I remember to be, a piece of paper having about twelve photographs on it. I looked at the photographs and believed I recognized one of the pictures. I told Detective Melich one of the pictures looked familiar to me and I believed the pictured person may have visited the community as a prospect. He told me ali of the pictures were of the same person. He never mentioned the photographed person's name."

Mr. Garcia advised Detective Corporal Melich asked him about the guest card whereupon he informed him of the management office's protocols for showing an apartment. Mr. Garcia wrote, "I told him we fill out a guest card for every person who visits the property as a prospect. I told him I filled out the guest card for Ms. Gonzalez. The card recorded Ms. Gonzalez' visit to the property as having took place on June 17th, 2008."

I asked Mr. Garcia if he could produce the original guest card. He retrieved the guest card from an office file. I asked him to examine the document and asked him if he was sure he filled out the form and if he was sure of the date of the Ms. Gonzalez visit. Mr. Garcia told me he filled out the form and confirmed he recognized his handwriting. Mr. Garcia wrote, "I sure of her date of visit because our standard operating procedure is for us to fill out the guest card in the presence of the visitor. I wrote the names of Jasmine and Michelle on the form because Ms. Gonzalez told me her children would be living with her."

Mr. Garcia offered, after examining the guest card, he believed he conducted the visitation with Ms. Gonzalez in Spanish. He told me he believed the visitation was conducted in Spanish because he wrote the names of the children in Spanish on the visitation document. Mr. Garcia turned the original visitation card to me with the permission of Ms. Amanda Macklin, the community manager. The document's face was covered with a red colored mark. He informed me the mark indicated the data on the card had been input into a computer database. Mr. Garcia and Ms. Macklin turned the document over to me consensualiy. They indicated the consensual transfer of the document to me by signing the attached property form.

The original document was placed into evidence. A copy of the guest card is, again, included as an attachment to this investigative supplemental report. The attached property form indicates the submission of the original guest card into evidence.

On August 7th, 2008 I met with Detective Corporal Melich and briefed him regarding the aforementioned detail. He confirmed sworn testimony had already been obtained from Ms. Gonzalez regarding the visitation to the Sawgrass Complex
.
I conducted a search of available databases and confirmed case number 48CC2008000825 was, in fact, a filing concerning Ms. Stacy Oaks of 2863 S. Conway Road, apartment 210 in Orlando, Florida. The return of service indicates the process was served on February 20th, 2008 at 1007 hours. A copy of the return of service is included as an attachment to this investigative summary.
