Can you tell me about that? 23 RM: Uhm, for uh, as long as I've known her she said she worked at Universal Studios 24 as an event coordinator. Uhm, and she said she'd been employed by Universal 25 Studios for about four years. 3 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 EE: You said she had friends and the boss. Can you tell me about all the information 2 she provided to you? 3 RM: Uhm, she often spoke of Juliet as an, an uh, another event coordinator that was, 4 she was very good friends with. You never went out to work with her to pick up anything, or no? 7 RM: I've never been to her work. 8 EE: Okay. And she'd get up in the mornings and prepare to go to work and then 9 leave, or anything like that that stands out in your mind? 10 RM: Not that I remember, no. 11 EE: She just talked about it? 12 RM: She talked about it. Uhm, regarding the photograph of the child with the bruise underneath the 5 eye, you said that that occurred around January 23rd this year? 6 RM: Yes. I was, I was there when she actually hit the table that bruised her eye. 7 EE: You witnessed that? 8 RM: Yes. 9 EE: And that you know that that photograph now that's in the news is... 10 RM: Yeah (affirmative), I know... 11 EE: ...in your apartment? 12 RM: The, that, when she hurt her eye was in out apartment. It was an accident. She 13 ran into the table. 14 EE: Who took that photo? 15 RM: I, I'm, I'm pretty sure it was Casey. 16 EE: And she put it on her My Space or? 17 RM: I don't, I'm not sure. I don't know. I don't know if it was up or not. 18 EE: Before we got into the calendar book here, uhm, we had talked about a message 19 over Yahoo Messenger, and on-line message that we're not sure exactly when, It 20 might have been in April or May, about uh, tell me about that where she said that 21 her life kind of sucked because she couldn't do anything because of the kid. 22 RM: Uhm, well Casey was just uh, I guess kind of venting on how she could, she 23 didn't feel that she can participate uhm, fully, or uhm, with her friends because 24 she was a mother. Uhm, and I just tried to I guess comfort her and let her know 25 that you know, you do have more responsibilities that everyone else being that 5 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 you are a mother. But I mean we do get to hang out with her a lot and we see 2 her pretty often. So it's not like it's that bad. 3 EE: Was that in response to like you calling her to, or sending her a message asking 4 her to go out or something like that or? 5 RM: I don't know how it came up. I really don't remember. 6 EE: Did that, was that just a one time incident, or did it seem to be a common theme? 7 RM: Uhm, it, I can only remember it on one instance that it was actually spoke of it she 8 I mean sometimes she would say, you know, "I can't do that. I got to be with 9 Caylee," here or there, uhm, but never, whenever she actually spoke of it she 10 didn't sound like annoyed ro anything. She was just like, "I can't do it because I 11 got to do this with Caylee." 12 EE: Okay. Anything before I go into the calendar? 13 DR: Huh-huh (negative). 14 EE: No? Alright. I'm going to put these two, what happened was apparently you and 15 some friends got together on the 20th of July and kind of plotted everything out in 16 the calendar book with Jesse, Amy and Troy, correct? 17 RM: Yes. 18 EE: Alright, I'm going to go, what I'm trying to do is make sense of who, who said 19 what from what day so I can plug all that stuff in and know who's accountable for 20 making what, what reference. 21 RM: Okay. 22 EE: May 14th, uhm, being the first day that you guys started on, there's an incident 23 where uh, Casey, y'all went downtown? 24 RM: Yes. 25 EE: Who, who was there? 6 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: Myself, uh, Casey and Troy rode together downtown to Voyage. 2 EE: Okay, and that was flat tire incident... 3 RM: Yes. 4 EE: ...later in the night? 5 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 6 EE: You and Troy went back out to give her a hand and she had two flat tires on the 7 white car? 8 RM: Yes. 9 EE: Alright. So you guys were kind of a little click at the time? That was the main, 10 the main group that would hang out and go do things? 11 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 12 EE: (Sighs) Uh, going ahead to the 24th. Do you know, do you know who had the 13 baby that night by any chance, going back to the 14th, I'm sorry. 14 RM: I don't. But every time she didn't have the child she said it was with her mother 15 or Zenita, so. 16 EE: One of the two? 17 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 18 EE: 24th you go to Tampa? 19 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 20 EE: Uh, of May. May 29th you say that Casey and Caylee spent the night at your 21 house? 22 RM: Yes. 23 EE: The 30th uh, Casey and Caylee spent the night at your house? 24 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative), yes. 25 7 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 EE: And the 31st you left work in the morning, which would be Saturday morning, 2 and upon your return they weren't there? 3 RM: No. Well I didn't, I didn't expect them to be there, but they weren't there. 4 EE: They didn't stay overnight that night? 5 RM: No. 6 EE: The 32st? Okay. The first of June, Sunday, uhm, you recall going to uh, Rock 7 Star Karokee at, at what club was that? Was that just downtown or? 8 RM: That's at Voyage as well. 9 EE: Voyage? With Amy, Ricardo and Troy? 10 RM: And J.P. was also there. 11 EE: And J.P. (Speaking to Detective Rivera) You mind, I'm not sure what that is. 12 That might be that Troy's here. If you...(resumes speaking to Mr. Morales.) 13 Uhm, zipping ahead to June 6th, uhm, you guys were supposed to do something, 14 or she said that she had to work. 15 (Detective Rivera exited the room). 16 RM: She... 17 EE: Yet photographs were on her My Space uh... 18 RM: Okay, uhm, well she, we had planned uhm, to have dinner. I was cooking dinner 19 uh, Friday night. And she had told ne that she'd be over and I believe she had 20 told Amy that she was coming too. Uhm, and eventually it got later and later 21 and she said she couldn't because she was going to be at work the whole night. 22 (Detective Rivera returns to the room). 23 EE: But you find... 24 DR: They'll need to talk to you like right now. 25 EE: You find photos on, you want to continue with that then? 8 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 DR: Sure. What... 2 EE: You, you pretty well got a handle on it now don't you? 3 DR: Yeah (affirmative), (chuckles). What n..what day were you on? 4 RM: Uh, the 6th. He was talking about that evening. 5 DR: Okay. So... 6 RM: Uh, I had said that s...that Casey had made plans with me uhm, to come over 7 uhm, that night. And she ended up canceling because of work. 8 DR: Right. 9 RM: And then he was going to ask had I seen uh, how did I find out she was at 10 Voyage, I mean Fusion, and it was because I saw the uh, the pictures on-line 11 of her at Fusion from Friday night. And the she... 12 DR: Were they dated? 13 RM: Uhm, they weren't but she had told me uhm, she had never been to Fusion 14 before so I, I just assumed, well I just asked her. I was like, "Did you go to 15 Fusion on Friday?" And she's like, "Yeah (affirmative), but my boss sent me 16 there for, for uhm, to spy on his daughter", basically is the excuse she gave me. 17 DR: Oh, that's the excuse she gave you? 18 (Corporal Edwards returns to the room). 19 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 20 DR: Spy on his daughter. Okay. 21 EE: Thank you. Where were we? 22 DR: I kept it warm. (Chuckles.) 23 EE: Yeah (affirmative) you did. Where were we? 24 DR: We didn't get far. We were still on si..uh, day six. 25 EE: Fusion. 9 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 2 EE: And that's where Amy uh, also said she that went down there because of 3 work. 4 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 5 EE: She comes over to your house that morning though? Uh, Saturday morning, the 6 7th? 7 RM: No that, that's p.m. when I saw her on Saturday. 8 EE: Oh, p.m.? 9 RM: 11:00 p.m. 10 EE: Saturday the 7th? 11 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 12 EE: Uh, Casey and Caylee? 13 RM: Yes. 14 EE: And they stay at your house? 15 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 16 EE: Through the morning of the 8th? 17 RM: Yes. 18 EE: What time do they leave on the 8th? 19 RM: I would say late morning. 20 DR: Okay. 21 EE: Excuse me. 22 DR: They leave late morning? 23 (Corporal Edwards exits the room.) 24 RM: Yes. 25 DR: Were you there the whole time, or I mean... 10 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 2 DR: ...did you stay home? 3 RM: Sunday's my day off so I was there the whole time. 4 DR: Okay. So did she say where she was going at all or anything? 5 RM: (Coughs) I'm not sure where she was going. I know she ended up at home 6 because I did talk to her later that day. 7 DR: Okay. And then she showed up again? 8 RM: On Sunday? 9 DR: On the 9th. 10 RM: Yes. 11 DR: Or... 12 RM: Uhm... 13 DR: Did she spend the night on Sunday... 14 RM: No. 15 DR: ...or no? 16 RM: She didn't spend the night on Sunday. 17 DR: That's the night she did not spend the night? 18 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 19 DR: And then she showed up on the 8th about what time? 20 RM: Uhm, I honestly don't know. I get out of work at eight, so it was sometime after, I 21 would say around... 22 DR: In the evening? 23 RM: ...yeah (affirmative). 24 DR: Okay. 25 RM: Sometime in the evening. 11 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 DR: And then she spent the night again with Cas...uh, Caylee? 2 RM: Yes. Her and Caylee spent the night. 3 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 4 RM: Uhm, Tuesday uh, I got up to go to work. 5 DR Uh-hum (affirmative). 6 RM: I remember going downstairs. Uh, before I left they were on the couch, Caylee 7 and Casey. 8 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 9 RM: And uh, I just said, "I'm going to work." And she said, "Okay. I'm going to take a 10 shower," in my apartment. 11 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 12 RM: "And then I'm going to leave." I don't remember where she was going to but that's 13 what (inaudible). 14 DR: I had asked you uh, if she had ever spent he night at your house without Caylee 15 and you had said... 16 RM: There was one time that I can remember while we were dating that she actually 17 started the night they were both in, in my bed. 18 Dr: Uh-hum (affirmative). 19 RM: Uhm, I woke up the next morning and it was just Casey. Caylee, uh, uhm, yeah 20 (affirmative) Casey. And Casey told me that uhm, her mom had called during the 21 night and wanted her to bring Caylee home. 22 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 23 RM: And so she took Caylee back home and then she came back and ... 24 DR: Oh, so you never woke up when she got up to leave? 25 (Sound of door opening and closing). 12 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: No. 2 DR: Okay. 3 RM: I didn't even know, when I woke up I didn't even, I assume Caylee was still 4 there. I didn't know she was gone. 5 DR: Okay. 6 RM: And then actually on July 1st, uhm, the day before I went on vacation she stayed 7 alone. But she wasn't sleeping in my room. She was on the couch. 8 DR: She was on the couch? But that was the first time really that she... 9 RM: That would be the first time, yeah (affirmative), that she actually got there 10 without... 11 DR: Came without her? 12 RM: ...Caylee and then, yeah (affirmative). 13 Dr: Okay. So on the, do you remember when that was about uh, her bringing Caylee 14 home in the middle of the night? 15 RM: I really don't know. 16 DR: It was when you were still dating? 17 RM: We were still dating uhm, but... 18 DR: Back in April? Before that? 19 RM: I wouldn't be able to say. I would uh... 20 DR: Would you find that odd though for her to get up in the middle of the night and 21 leave and then come back or? 22 RM: She hadn't before, but she told me her, you know, her mom was very I guess, I 23 don't know if it's protective of Caylee, or just wanted to see her a lot. So I 24 didn't... 25 DR: Okay. 13 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: ...really think too much of it when she, when uh, she had told me that in the 2 morning. 3 DR: Okay. Uhm, so when you left for work on the 10th is the last time you has seen 4 Caylee? 5 RM: Yes. 6 DR: Okay. On the 11th you guys go to Voyage. Who goes to Voyage? Do you remember? 7 RM: Me and Amy go to Voyage. 9 DR: Okay, you and Amy. But there's no Casey? 10 RM: No, Casey does not go. 11 DR: Did you hear from her at all or anything like that? 12 RM: She texted me and told me she's not going to be going to Voyage that night. 13 DR: Did she tell you why or no? 14 RM: Uhm, I think it was work, a work excuse. 15 DR: A work? 16 RM: She said she was going to be working. 17 DR: Okay. And then the 12th you just... 18 RM: The 12th I uh, was in Tampa... 19 DR: You were in Tampa... 20 RM: ...from the 12th to the 13th. 21 DR: ...this..And you left on the 12th to Tampa? 22 RM: Yes, after work I left. 23 DR: Okay. And let's see. When did you come back? 24 RM: The 13th and the, well I got back to Orlando... 25 DR: Okay, so you were only day... 14 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: ...in the afternoon. 2 DR: ...gone a day? 3 RM: Yes. 4 DR: Okay. And that's when she called you to invite you to go to Fusion? 5 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 6 DR: And but what was the, well was that the initial conversation or w..what... 7 RM: I started with her saying, "What are you doing tonight?" 8 DR: Okay. 9 RM: Uhm, and I just told her, I knew what she was getting at and I told her I'm not 10 going to go to Fusion because I don't, I don't really like the type of place. 11 DR: You don't like that music? 12 RM: No. 13 DR: And then how did it get into the conversation that her dad had had a mini stroke. 14 RM: Well I knew of her plan, her and Amy's plan to go pick up a car in Jacksonville. 15 DR: Right. 16 RM: So I asked her, you know, "Are you guys in Jacksonville yet?" And then she got 17 into how she couldn't have gone because of her dad having that mini-stroke or 18 whatever. 19 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 20 RM: Uhm... 21 DR: Did she seem upset, or? 22 RM: I can't say that she seemed noticeably upset. 23 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 24 RM: So I figured that it wasn't, it ended up not being a big deal. 25 DR: Okay. 15 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: Uhm, but yeah (affirmative), she said that was her reason for not taking Amy to 2 Jacksonville. 3 DR: Right. So her dad had a mini-stroke during the day, but she's ready to go to 4 Fusion that night? 5 RM: She said it was some time in the middle of the night, and that, or something, and 6 then... 7 DR: Okay. 8 RM: And they were in the hospital; with him up until the morning. 9 DR: Alright. And then the 14th anything? Is that kind of like the last, did you, alright 10 she kind of drops off the face of the earth for a while there. 11 RM: At least to our group of friends, yeah (affirmative). 12 DR:Yeah (affirmative), for, to your group of friends. 13 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 14 DR: But you did say that you would get a sporadic uhm... 15 RM Yeah (affirmative), either at uh, you know a text message or... 16 Uh-hum (affirmative). 17 RM: ...an on-line, you know, instant message. 18 DR: And what were those about? 19 RM: Never anything important. Just like, "What's up?" You know, a casual 20 conversation. 21 DR: Just want to say hi? 22 RM: Pretty much stuff like that. 23 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). Did she ever invite you out again or no? 24 RM: Uh, will on Facebook, whenever you have an event... 25 DR: Uh-hum (affirmative). 16 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 RM: ...you can invite all your friends. So I'm sure she, she did invite me through 2 Facebook on there. 3 DR: Okay. 4 RM: Uhm, but I'm sure it was like a mass invite that she invited everyone. 5 DR: To everybody? 6 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 7 DR: But in your, your... 8 RM: She never personally invited me again like called me up and said... 9 DR: Okay. 10 RM: ...do you want to go there. 11 DR: Alright. Uhm, Fusion though is not your cup of tea? 12 RM: No. 13 DR: What kind of music do they play there? 14 RM: Uhm... 15 DR: Is it like techno or is it like rap, hip-hop stuff. 16 RM: I believe it's like hip-hop type stuff. 17 DR: Okay. 18 RM: It's just a big club from what I understand. 19 DR: Okay. And on the 27th is when she actually sent you the Facebook message? 20 RM: Yeah (affirmative). She had... 21 DR: If you were doing anything. 22 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). She wanted to know what was going on the following night 23 on the 28th. 24 DR: Okay. But in, in, from the 14th through the 27th, how many times do you think 25 you've heard from her. 17 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 Rm: I would say maybe twice. I mean... 2 DR: And those would be through? 3 RM: One of the was definitely a phone call. I don't know exactly what day it was 4 uhm, (unintelligible). 5 DR: And that's the one where you got it at work? 6 RM: Yeah (affirmative), where she initially called me on my cell phone and had her 7 call me back at work. 8 DR: Okay. 9 RM: I don't know what day it was. Uhm, so I'll, I'll (unintelligible) and find that out. 10 DR: Yeah (affirmative), That was a two week span there. Okay. Yeah (affirmative). 11 RM: And then I'm pretty sure I'd gotten a text message here, you know, somewhere in 12 there which was just like how, how's, how are things going and stuff like that. 13 DR: Okay. 14 RM: (Coughs.) 15 DR: And then uh, the 28th, you, Will, Troy, Amy and Jeep, and J.P. go to the uh, beer 16 thing downtown? 17 RM: Yes. 18 DR: Alright. And but no Casey? 19 RM: No, Casey wasn't there that night. 20 DR: But you did invite her on the 27th? You did tell her that that you guys were doing 21 that? 22 RM: I told her what was going on that day. And then on the 28th during the event I, I 23 texted her and I was like, "Are you coming out?" She never responded, no 24 DR: She never responded? 25 RM:Yeah (affirmative). 18 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 DR: Okay. And then did you hear from her from the 28th through the 30th at all? 2 RM: Uhm... 3 DR: You lost contact with her a couple of days there? 4 RM: I honestly can't say that I remember any contact with her after that. 5 DR: Okay, so for the most part it was from the 14th through the 1st, where it was just 6 sporadic... 7 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 8 DR: ...here and there. And you guys, actually nobody seen her? 9 RM: Yes. 10 DR: Just through telephone conversations or text me...text messages? 11 RM: Yeah (affirmative), no one that, that I hung out with? 12 DR: That you hung out with? 13 RM: Had seen. 14 DR: Right. 15 RM: Uh-hum (affirmative). 16 DR: You general group of friends, which was Amy, Troy, J.P., you? 17 RM: Yeah (affirmative). 18 DR: Okay. (Sighs.) On the first of July, we're now into July, Casey ends up spending 19 the night. But at the time I never, I never paid any mind to 18 it. I just, I was like okay, you're busy, so... 19 (Corporal Edwards returns to the room) 20 DR: I think that's Lake Pickett and 50 area, which is uhm, that's it. I, we, well we went 21 through this whole calendar. 22 EE: Uh-hum (affirmative). 23 DR: And uhm, I don't think, I think I covered all the 24 EE: Okay. 25 DR: ...dates and stuff like that. 28 Morales, Ricardo/Case #08-069208/GG 1 EE: We're good. 2 DR: Alright. 3 EE: This guy lives out maybe off of Lake Pickett? 4 DR: Yeah (affirmative). 5 EE: Steve Jones? 6 DR: Maybe Bridgewater I think. 7 EE: Bridgewater?
