Death of Innocence by John and Patsy Ramsey Press Release Date: November 5, 1999 JOHN AND PATSY RAMSEY TO PUBLISH THEIR STORY NASHVILLE - Thomas Nelson Publishers announced today that it will publish a book by John and Patsy Ramsey, parents of JonBenet Ramsey. "We have patiently waited for the justice process to evolve in the matter of our daughter's death," the authors said. "We have remained silent while baseless and slanderous accusations about our family were made by the frenzied media. With the grand jury's recent decision, the time is appropriate to recount our experiences in this tragedy." The book, which is scheduled for a March 2000 release, will address many of the myths and falsehoods surrounding this case. Most people know only what the media have told them, and so much of this is simply based on inaccuracies," said publisher Rolf Zettersten. "It will also give the Ramseys an opportunity to write about JonBenet whose life was so much more than junior beauty pageants. This will also be a story of their faith in God and how it sustained them through the tragedy and the horrible accusations that ensued." Terms of the contract will not be disclosed although the Ramseys have said that royalties will be used to pay legal fees and all other proceeds will go to the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation. The foundation was set up by the family to honor JonBenet by helping children in their spiritual growth. Thomas Nelson Inc. is believed to be the world's largest inspirational publisher.
