Family members have questioned the parents on numerous occasions and was always told she was still with her grandmother. Erica is not in the Asheville area! Since Erica's biological grandmother passed away more than 5 years ago, how could the parents have sent her to live there 2 years ago? Don't take a rocket scientist to figure this out! Come on deputies put this together! JUSTICE FOR ERICA!!!!!" |

I knew the Parsons when I was younger. I played with the oldest growing up and every time I was down there, Erica was treated like s**t. I may have only been in middle school but I vaguely remember how awful they treated her! Every time I went over there, She was sitting behind the Mom's chair in the living room on the floor. Every time I would ask if she was okay, I got a evil glare upon me for even asking. The 2nd oldest brother would hit her and say "It's okay, She likes it" and hit her even harder. The daughter would play with her but be completely unfair to her and push and shove her off the bed. I remember seeing her cry and both would be say she's okay. I wish the worst on the Mom and Dad! I will never forget how poorly she was treated in 2 years I lived down the street from them. And I'm not surprised at the LEAST to hear that the parents are not cooperating in the investigation. The way the treated her was not how a child should have been treated. She was not loved in that house what so ever! I can only imagine how she was treated after they moved. I pray they find where she is if she is even alive. 2 f******g years!!!! Once again, They never cared about her!!!!!!" |

Do they know anything that authorities don't know? Was Erica living with the Parson family when they moved to the address on Miller Chapel Rd? The house hasn't been lived in for more than 2 years by them. I have a relative that lives behind them and I had looked at buying the same home before Sandy and Casey Parsons bought it. I would trace their past homes and look for graves." |

Parsons Attorney said "the parents indicated Erica was a “rebellious teenager.” Sherrill said the couple told him they spoke with the teen a while ago and she told them she did not want to return home." | --- | . | Erica is described as small for her age. She is Caucasian, 4 feet 5 inches tall, 85-90 pounds, with a thin build. She has brown hair and brown eyes. |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/08/13): Official: Parents of missing teen gave false Information "Her older brother, James Parsons, reported her missing on July 30. He told authorities that, when he asked about her absence previously, his parents said she'd gone to live with other family members. The teen's adoptive parents, Casey Stone Parsons and Sandy Parsons, initially talked with investigators, but became increasingly uncooperative, according to the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's Capt. John Sifford said the parents initially provided some information and possible leads to the location of Erica Parsons, saying she may be in Asheville with relatives, but investigators “have determined that the information the parents provided was not true." "The couple hired local attorney Carlyle Sherrill a few days after detectives began their investigation. Sherrill told a Post reporter Tuesday the couple had no known relatives in Asheville, but the girl's biological mother had ties to that city. He said the parents indicated Erica was a “rebellious teenager.” Sherrill said the couple told him they spoke with the teen a while ago and she told them she did not want to return home." |

. | --- | . | James "Jamie" Parsons Brook Parsons |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.wsoctv.com 08/08/13): Several calls for help made from home of missing Rowan Co. teen "Through records requests, Channel 9 learned that in the past two years, Rowan County sheriff's deputies have been called to the home seven different times, sometimes for 911 calls about violent incidents in the home. Officials at the Rowan County Emergency Communications Center told Channel 9 that in August 2011, deputies were called to the home for a domestic violence incident while a 3-year-old child was inside the house. That call was just a few months before authorities say Parsons disappeared." "In 2012, authorities said someone at the home filed a missing-persons report not for Erica, but for her adopted sister, Brooke. Authorities said the teen's mother Casey Parsons was concerned because Brooke hadn't been seen since the night before and she wanted officers to search for her. According to records, the teen returned home while deputies were at the scene." "And twice this year, deputies said they went to the home for more domestic violence calls. Channel 9 learned through court records that some of those calls for service were tied to Parsons’ adoptive brother, the person who first reported her missing last week." |
08-08-2013 Online Media Deputies say Parsons was last seen by her step-brother, James Parsons, when she was 13-years-old |
"In February 2012, they received a phone call from her and she let them know in no uncertain terms she didn't want to come back," Sherrill told WBTV. "This is a rebellious teenager who seemed to be safe, seemed to be where she wants to be." | --- | . | "Attorney Sherrill says the couple didn't report Erica missing because they thought she just decided not to come back." |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.wistv.com 08/08/13): FBI joins investigation - Parents become 'increasingly uncooperative' "Parsons was reported missing on July 30 to the Sheriff's Office by a step-sibling, investigators told WBTV. She was last seen on November 19, 2011 at a home along the 200-block of Miller Chapel Road in Salisbury. Deputies say Parsons was last seen by her step-brother, James Parsons, when she was 13-years-old. James Parsons told investigators that his parents said Erica went to stay with other family members, when he asked where she was. He contacted police about Erica last week after recently moving out of his parents' home." "The parents have since hired a local attorney and refuse to cooperate further with Sheriff's Investigators in this case," deputies told WBTV. That attorney, Carlyle Sherrill, told WBTV that his clients were contacted by the Erica's birth mother in 2011. She introduced the family to a couple, some type of distant relative, who supposedly lived in the Asheville area." "Sherrill says the Parsons let Erica visit the couple three times and after the third visit Erica never came back home. "In February 2012, they received a phone call from her and she let them know in no uncertain terms she didn't want to come back," Sherrill told WBTV. "This is a rebellious teenager who seemed to be safe, seemed to be where she wants to be." |

Carolyn Parsons: "She is my biological daughter. I am very very concerned for her safety. I'm very concerned about her whereabouts." |
--- | . | (Excerpt from interview or article) - (salisbury.wbtv.com 08/08/13): Missing teen's parents: We've done nothing wrong "Carolyn Parsons (On The Phone): "She is my biological daughter. I am very very concerned for her safety. I'm very concerned about her whereabouts. I want her to know that I do still love her. I do care what happens to her. I always have and I always will." Carolyn Parsons (On The Phone): "Call somebody. Call Rowan County. If the only thing you can think to do is pick up the phone and call 911 --- call 911 --- call anybody." Carolyn Parsons (On The Phone): "Don't not do anything. This is a kid. This is my kid. Imagine if it was you. How would you feel. I feel like I'm in some body's nightmare and they will not wake up and let me out." |
08-08-2013 Online Media Casey Parsons says, "I think she's scared to call home and say I'm alright. I think they're telling her she's going to get in trouble." |
"The Parson say they believe their son filed the missing person's report to get even with them. Casey Parsons says she threw her son out the house because he allegedly hit her." | --- | . | Sandy and Casey Parsons "Erica's BIO Mother, Carolyn Parsons says both of Erica's grandmothers have been dead for at least five years." |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (salisbury.wbtv.com 08/08/13): Missing teen's parents: We've done nothing wrong "Also on Tuesday, WBTV investigated the claim made by Erica's adoptive parents that Erica had been home schooled while she lived with them. On a state web site there is indeed a listing for a registered home school named "Parson's Christian School," with the administrator listed as Casey Parsons. On Monday, a week after authorities notified the media about Erica, a detective with the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children spoke to WBTV. "It's just an unusual case that we don't often see. The delay in the reporting is something that we don't see very often like this so we're very concerned about this child's welfare," said Robert G. Lowery Jr." "Casey and Sandy Parsons, Erica's adoptive parents, sat down with WBTV's Coleen Harry on Thursday morning, nearly a week after she was reported missing. The Parsons made a plea for Erica to get in touch with them. When asked if she believes Erica is okay, Casey Parsons said "yes I believe she's okay. I think she's scared to call home and say I'm alright. I think they're telling her she's going to get in trouble." "Erica's biological mother disputes Sherill's claim arguing that both of Erica's grandmothers have been dead for at least five years. WBTV contacted Asheville Police for comment. "We have been in communication with the folks in Rowan County and the authorities there have not instructed us or asked us to do anything with regards to this case," said Sgt. Dave Romick with APD. |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.wsoctv.com 08/08/13): Family members say missing 15-year-old had painful life COMMENTS: Posted by Posted by JamesLambert at 12:04 a.m. Aug. 9, 2013 "I just checked the Rowan County Tax GIS map. The home was purchased on April 21, 2011 by Sandy Parson's parents, William and Janet Parsons. So, Erica was there from April until November. Around 7 months. How do you adopt and raise a child from 2 weeks until she is 13 and then send her off to live with someone, then when she calls and says she's not coming home...write it off as a rebellious teenager and just forget about her??? Something is fishy about the whole ordeal. I hope she is alive and well, but things aren't looking too promising. Someone knows something and they had better come clean." |

(Excerpt from interview or article) (www.wsoctv.com 08/09/13) Relatives of missing Rowan Co. teen questioned by investigators "Investigators interviewed at least two family members, Robin Ashley and her mother, about the 15-year-old’s disappearance. Investigators said Erica Parsons was gone almost two years before her adoptive parents reported her missing. Channel 9 asked Erica’s aunt, Robin Ashley, if she knew why she was there. “Just to meet, just for an interview,” Ashley said." "On Thursday, Channel 9 learned within the past two years Rowan County sheriff’s deputies have been called to the Parsons home seven different times. In August 2011, deputies were called to the home for a domestic-violence incident while a 3-year-old child was inside the house. In 2012, authorities said someone at the home filed a missing-persons report, but not for Erica. And twice this year, deputies said they went to the home for more domestic-violence calls." |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: And you said that you all had been looking for her as well, how have you been trying to look for her? Casey Parsons: Oh, we've always, even my other kids, even before this- we would just look on Facebook to see if Erica had ever created Facebook pages and stuff just to see what she looked like and stuff. Um, but we never had success in finding anything. There is Irene Goodman's on Facebook. There's some in China Grove. Them pictures that's on Facebook don't match the pictures of the lady that I seen. So, I don't think that's the lady that's in China Grove. Um, that's the only pictures I've ever seen of Irene Goodman. The pictures that we seen at the police station of Jana- Janice Jackson, the Strawberry lady, um- the ones they showed me wasn't her. But, then they said they found her at Carolina beach, and she was the lady, they have not- actually, refused to show me her picture. So, I could never identify that lady and don't know what they see and the woman- if they even went to house too and they refused to show me the picture of Kelly also. So. Reporter: Had you all- yourselves, your family, been to Asheville or contacted Asheville law enforcement yourselves? Casey Parsons: No. I mean, I don't- to me, Erica, up until that, was fine in Asheville, living. I- there was no threat. She's not missing. I thought Erica was just living up there and having fun and being a kid. So. |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: How were you handling school and checking up with her, make sure she was- Casey Parsons: She was home schooled, and we- Reporter: - meeting the state requirements for homeschooling? Casey Parsons: Well, the lady up there said she had her- the next door neighbor was a teacher and a tutor and that she was getting her- she was getting tutored with her because Erica has a huge learning disability. She's very- she's- if you would say equivalent to grade levels, she's probably three levels behind. And, she went to public school here until it was- it would get embarrassing for her because all the groups that she was with- they actually wouldn't even call her at a grade level. She would have to go to another room by herself with other kids that was way younger than her. And, it would get very embarrassing and she did not like that. So, we home schooled her. And, Nan knew all about the home school. She knew about all of her little tests and workbooks and everything that we worked with and she said that there was a teacher next door that would help her with this. And, that she would put her back into public school. Now, I don't know if she did that. |

Casey Parsons "said the family has searched for Erica via social networking site Facebook, but have never gone to Asheville or contacted Asheville law enforcement." | --- | . | "The Rowan County Department of Social Services has removed the two youngest children from the home." |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/09/13): Mother of missing girl appeals for her to come forward "Casey Parsons told reporters she let Erica leave their Salisbury home to live in Asheville with the girl’s paternal grandmother, Irene Goodman, whom she called Nan. The teen’s biological father, Casey said, is Billy Goodman, Irene’s son. The girl’s biological mother, Carolyn Parsons, was married to Sandy Parsons’ brother." "When asked if she believes Erica is still in Asheville, Casey said she does believe the teen is with Goodman. The couple have had no contact with Erica since around Christmas 2011, Casey said. She said the family has searched for Erica via social networking site Facebook, but have never gone to Asheville or contacted Asheville law enforcement." "Carolyn Parsons, Erica’s birth mother, lives out of state now. "The couple, along with Sherrill, have been invited on the Dr. Phil show. The episode is expected to tape Monday." |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey Parson said: "Just like the phone call with Billy at the police station when they called, he denied ever even having Erica as a kid- he never had a kid, he said. And he has three kids." |
Reporter: "Almost two years, and you said- phone number disconnected, didn't have an address. You looked on Facebook. I guess, how intense was the effort to figure out where she was, who she's with, and how she's doing?" |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: Almost two years, and you said- phone number disconnected, didn't have an address. You looked on Facebook. I guess, how intense was the effort to figure out where she was, who she's with, and how she's doing? Casey Parsons: But, see though, I met Nan several times and talked to her. Nan is a wonderful lady. I had no reason not to trust Nan and I knew Erica wanted to stay there and did not want to come back here. So, I was not going to sit there and try to force Erica back when she was doing just fine and having fun and being with her grandmother. I just- there was no reason for me- I had no reason to doubt there was anything going on with Erica. Reporter: They say, "Sheriff’s Office Investigators have followed up on information on possible locations of Erica Parsons across the State of NC, but so far, none of the information provided by Casey & Sandy Parsons have been found to be factual." And to that, you say- what? Casey Parsons: They're lying. And he warned us that he would say stuff like that when we got our lawyer. They proved there was the other lady there, Strawberry. And, we also got told, um, Billy Goodman's mother is from Asheville and she resided in Mooresville. And, I don't know, I don't remember what they said her name was. And, the Strawberry lady has lived everywhere including also Mooresville. This is all comes from the detective. And, there is a Kelly and she does have kids. Just like the phone call with Billy at the police station when they called, he denied ever even having Erica as a kid- he never had a kid, he said. And he has three kids. We told them all everything so why they're saying that the factual thing- there was a Strawberry. That lady Strawberry, and a Kelly. I have no idea, because they know exactly who them people are. They've talked to them. |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: What do you think he was hoping to accomplish by going to law enforcement? Casey Parsons: He wanted me to go to jail, because I've put him in jail every time he's been in jail. I'm the one that did it. And, he's always- every time he would get mad over anything he always bring that up to me. "You put me in jail, you ruined my life, nobody will give me a job because you made me have a record." And, it was always my fault. Always. And he's always told me he was going to get me one day. I never think he would do this to me. Reporter: Where is Jamie now? Casey Parsons: With his, um- brother. His uncle, Scott Parsons, in Harrisburg. |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey Parsons said her son Jamie told LE that they murdered Erica and buried her in the back yard. |
"Oh, no. He was here the day that she walked out and went to Nan's. He watched her. All my other kids was too- watched her on- for the three week trip for Christmas, he watched her walk right out the door to go to the McDonald's to meet Nan." | --- | . | Casey Stone Parsons and Sandy Wade Parsons Interviewed 08/09/2013 Interview Part 4 PDF File Here |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter Why did he think that it would draw the police here and the investigation the way it has? Casey Parsons: He told them that- Reporter: I mean, did you guys have discussions- like we don't know where the heck she is? Casey Parsons: Oh, no. He was here the day that she walked out and went to Nan's. He watched her. All my other kids was too- watched her on- for the three week trip for Christmas, he watched her walk right out the door to go to the McDonald's to meet Nan. He knew Nan. He talked to Erica about the horses that she rode at Nan's all the time. He knew Nan. Erica talked to him about it several times. So, that's why I don't understand the report given to us that night when they come here. James has said that we killed her and buried her in our backyard. And, that's what they was asking. Did we kill her and bury her? Reporter: And your answer? Casey and Sandy Parsons: No. |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey Parsons said LE wanted to know if they sold Erica to pay their medical bills |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: What exactly did they say? Casey Parsons: Homicide investigations wanted to know, did we sell her? He asked us that. He told us that I had a lot of medical bills and said that they know it probably got hard so- what did we do? Sell her? Sell her to people, and, uh- we did not do nothing like that. It was just all these different accusations. That we- it was just getting to hard- we gave her away, or it was just too much stress and everything that we just do away with her. And, it was very horrible stuff that they was- that they would say to us. And, on the day that we got- we called lawyer Sherill was- the man that James is staying with right now actually called us and told us that the detectives had told him that this was a homicide investigation and they really weren't even trying to find Erica. So, that's when we knew we better go call somebody if that was the truth. And, then we confronted the detective in the lobby when we went back about what Scott had called and said to us. Reporter: They asked you or accused you of killing her? Casey Parsons: They- I don't know what you mean, the difference- they asked me did I kill her, and they told us- his exact words about selling was, "You sold her because the medical bills was too high." |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey and Sandy Parsons just kept cashing those State checks for nearly TWO YEARS! |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: Now, regarding DSS and what- I'm just asking, this is what one other person told us, is that since she was adopted, the case is not from Rowan County, it's from the Asheville area or I guess where she came from, whatever county where the adoption was initiated. Casey Parsons: Cabarrus County. Reporter: Cabarrus County? Okay. Do you guys still receive any sort of financial compensation from DSS or the state, are you still receiving that money for Erica- Casey Parsons: She gets- Reporter: -even though she hasn't been here for two years? Casey Parsons: Yes. Because, I actually have the letter that states that you get it if you have legal responsibility of Erica. |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey Parson said if she cancelled Erica's Medicaid then "that was her only health insurance" |
"Along with that comes Medicaid, and I knew that was Erica's only way of going to the doctor if she became sick and needed to go to the doctor." | --- | . | Casey Stone Parsons and Sandy Wade Parsons Interviewed 08/09/2013 Interview Part 5 PDF File Here |
(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Casey Parsons: You have to understand about that. Along with that comes Medicaid, and I knew that was Erica's only way of going to the doctor if she became sick and needed to go to the doctor. So, if you cancel that too, you cancel her insurance that she has, and that was her only health insurance at all. And, I actually have the letter over there that tells about receiving that. And, there's two criterias for it- legal responsibility or financial responsibility. Reporter: So, how did you use the money, then? Casey Parsons: It- just put it in the bank, and just like we received it, and it's in- it's sitting in the bank. 'Cause- Reporter: No one went to Irene, Nan? Casey Parsons: No, we don't even know an address. |
08-09-2013 Online Media Casey Parsons said if Erica got sick and needed a doctor that she'd have to call to get her Medicaid card |

And Nan, when we called her back, we went to see- we called to see how that went when she was at the ER, supposed to be, that night- um, she said she got her treated. Reporter: This is up in Asheville? Casey Parsons: Yes. And they- the detective said they called a hospital. The hospital me and my husband searched for and found was Mission's Hill, wasn't it? Hospital, that we assume that's where she went to. Um, but they won't give you any information over the phone. And, the detective said they was checking all that and checking it out. |

Casey Parsons: Well, actually, her half-sister actually told the detectives that she had talked to her just earlier this year on Facebook and asked her, "How are you doing?" And she replied, "I'm fine." And that was her step- it's her half-sister, Carolyn's biological daughter, Brittany Cline. And, we was told that during the two days of questioning, that Brittany had contacted her and said she's doing fine. Reporter: So, that was three months ago? Casey Parsons: She said, "Earlier this year, I talked to Erica on Facebook." She had a Facebook page and she talked to her and asked her, "How are you doing?" and she replied, "I'm fine." Reporter: How would she be able to find one? Casey Parsons: I cannot find no Facebook. Brittany said though that she had it under a different name. Um, Brooke is gone, isn't she? Attorney Sherrill: Those are the people talking to WSOC. Casey Parsons: That's his family. Reporter: I'm asking the question now. (Sherrill chuckles) I, I- you know. But- to those people who say, you know what, there's just something that they don't want people to know, there's something that happened and they're not talking about it. And, you say- what? Casey Parsons: First, let me just explain that family real fast. He's sitting here and I know he don't want to say anything against the family. We don't do that. We just always keep our mouth shut and kept to ourselves. This, to us, was our family that lived here. My kids. We've been shunned by that family since we been married, even before we had kids. I can tell you that his parents and them, I could tell you- count on one hand how many times they laid eyes on Erica in probably ten years, much less the last two to three, what they're saying. That- no. We didn't go to birthday parties. We didn't go to Christmas stuff at their house. We didn't do that. That was- that has been a long family history with that family. And, you gotta also remember, the son that's doing this to us is with that family. So, that's a lot of why they're saying this and doing this. |

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.salisburypost.com 08/10/13): Adoptive Parents say they think missing teen is OK, scared to come forward Reporter: She's 15 years old. You still technically have legal custody. If she's found, is she coming back here? Casey Parsons: That's what- no, that's what I was hoping all this would do. I'm hoping that Erica is not scared and will come forward 'cause there is two other little kids involved that she loves very much. And, I don't think she realizes that they have been removed from this house because of this. If she would just call, I understand that she wants to stay with Nan, and that's- I told her before, that's fine. We can work this out, and they just want it legal. I'm willing to do that. If Nan wants to go and do legal stuff, we'll go do legal stuff so all this will be resolved. I won't make Erica still come home. She's welcome to stay there as long as DSS and them are present and says she can stay there. But, she needs to just call. One of them needs to call. So, they can say, "I'm fine. I'm here." Let's just get the legal stuff taken care of, and we can decide then at that point if Nan's, in the laws eyes, 'cause they took my parental rights saying it's safe away, so let's let them say if it's safe for her to stay. 'Cause, to me, it was. I'm more than willing to let her stay there if she just call and tell us. Just come and we'll do- we'll get something where she can still go with that grandmother. We'll just do it on the paper this time the right way. I'm more than willing to do that. But, it could get her little brother and sister back in this house where they're not going through this, and all it would take it just to set up- just minutes, "I'm okay." And, we will do it. Casey Parsons: She was alive when she got her in December. Um, I would assume she still is. I have been told that she died by Carolyn, and the detectives mentioned that. But, they also told me the girl that was with Strawberry- her daughter died in a car wreck, and that come out that was a lie, and she's alive. Reporter: And, you said on Facebook she was a different name? Casey Parsons: That's what Brittany- Brittany said. Do you remember the name that Brittany said she was going under on the Facebook? When she wrote, "Are you okay?" and she wrote back, "I'm okay."? You don't remember that? Have you got that still on your thing? Female off camera: She just told me about how she just wrote her about a few months back and all she got from Erica was, "I'm fine." Casey Parsons: Okay. But it was supposed to be a whole other Facebook, it wasn't under Erica Parsons. So, we even been looking for Erica Goodman. And then, now since we found Strawberry's name, Janice Jackson, we was looking for Erica Jackson. We been looking for everything that you could think of. Reporter: Primarily searching on Facebook? Casey Parsons: I am, 'cause that's the last- that's the last time that I know that anybody says they've talked to her, was Brittany. So, we started doing all these Facebook things, and trying to see if maybe she's just under there or something where she'll call. |

Reporter: - is the home in the city of Asheville, or...? Casey Parsons: No, Nan told me the home- it was fifteen minutes from the Biltmore house and she had a farm, and she had horses. And, Erica told me about the horses that she rode all the time. Reporter: So, what's the next step for you? Casey Parsons: We're waiting. We're waiting on that call to come in. We don't know what else to do but to wait for that call. Hoping that maybe she'll see this. She'll see what happened to the other ones and she'll call. |

In another statement investigators were told that Casey Parsons told a family member that she can't stand to look at Erica and said she reminds her of Carolyn and she hates Carolyn. "Neighbors said the scene on their street is almost surreal. "One police officer showed up and next thing you know there was probably 25 or 30 cars there," said Jerry Fairbank. "They are going in the house. They are walking around the house." "They started coming around to each of the houses and interviewing us. We spoke with one of the deputies this morning and gave him our written statement," said Patti Miller, another neighbor." "Police were stopping and turning drivers around if they don't live on the street. They reopened the street late Wednesday night." |

"Patti Miller lived next door and talked to the Parsons on a regular basis. She says they don't deserve to get Erica back if she's found safe." | Wed | . | (Excerpt from interview or article) (www.wcnc.com 08/14/13) Neighbors want answers about missing Rowan Co. girl "It was long overdue. That girl had been missing for a long time. I just wish somebody would have reported it a lot sooner," said Vickie Yates, a neighbor. Patricia Howard is also concerned. "Digging up the yard, and search the house and the family is nowhere to be seen. It's unbearable," she said. Erica has been missing for nearly two years. Her adoptive parents never reported it. Neighbors are shocked that no one seemed to know." "Patti Miller lived next door and talked to the Parsons on a regular basis. She says they don't deserve to get Erica back if she's found safe. "If they haven't had the need to find her in 18 months, then I don't know if they should necessarily have her back. I wouldn't want my child living with someone who didn't care enough in 18 months to go looking for her," she said." |

08-15-2013 Online Media Sandy Parsons convicted in 1994 and again in 1997 of assault against wife Casey Parsons |
"Capt. John Sifford, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said Erica lived at the home on Miller Chapel Road with Casey and Sandy Parsons and their biological son James, now 20." | --- | . | (Excerpt from interview or article) (www.charlotteobserver.com 08/15/13) Search begins at property where missing Rowan teen lived "The story took another twist Thursday, when Casey Parsons, Erica’s adoptive mother, was hospitalized at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The hospital said Parsons is in good condition. There was no word as to why Casey Parsons was hospitalized, but WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner, is reporting that Parsons has been hospitalized several times in the past due to complications from stomach surgery." "Reports of violence: Court documents obtained by the Observer show reports of violence in the Parsonses’ home, although none involved Erica. Sandy Parsons was twice found guilty of assaulting his wife, according to a criminal records check. After the 1994 conviction, he was ordered to serve three years probation, during which a judge ordered him not to assault, harass or molest Casey Parsons. After again being convicted of assaulting his wife in 1997, Sandy Parsons was sentenced to a year of probation and required to do community service." |

"The warrants issued are for a missing person and identity theft. Investigators are now requesting the Parsons’ bank account information" | --- | . | (Excerpt from interview or article) (www.wcnc.com 08/15/13) JonBenet Ramsey magazines, red-stained walls at Parsons' home "Upon searching the family’s house, police say they found baseboards and flooring with red stains, two large knives wrapped in shrink wrap and a bag of JonBenet Ramsey magazines. Investigators removed some of the drywall from the closet area to test it for blood." The report also mentioned more about the family history. According to the report, Erica’s brother said Casey and Sandy Parsons abused her physically and mentally, and routinely beat her. He reportedly told police it consistently seemed like the Parsons were punishing her. He added Casey refused to claim Erica as her daughter. The Parsons reportedly continued to receive state checks for Erica once she wasn’t with them. The warrant says Erica went to live with another relative for a time before she went missing, but the Parsons took her back in fear they would stop getting money. Investigators allege this is also the reason they waited to report Erica missing. Police say while she stayed with those relatives, Erica told them her parents hit her. She also gained weight, size and played normally while staying with the other relative, the report says. The family allegedly told police they kept in contact with Erica’s birth mother over Facebook, but they have no evidence of it. The warrants issued are for a missing person and identity theft. Investigators are now requesting the Parsons’ bank account information." |

The warrant says there was drywall cut and removed from a closet area with red stains. The section was tested for blood, the warrant states. Investigators also took baseboards from the closet with red stains." "During an interview with the Parsons, investigators were told that they took Erica to Asheville to live with her biological grandmother, Irene Goodman - aka Nan Goodman - in 2011. He only dated her a few months but finally broke up with her because she was weird, her family was weird and had issues with them. She had come to our house a few times but she wouldn't eat in front of us, hardly would talk to us and when they finally broke up she stalked my brother on Facebook and wouldn't stop calling him so he finally changed his number. I'm sure glad he got out of that situation but how sad for Erica. I hope all those kids get help." |
