Erica was four and a half feet tall, about 85 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes.
Erica Lynn Parsons, 13 years old was reported missing by her brother, James "Jamie" Parsons, age 20. Jamie hadn't seen Erica since November or December 2011. The adopted mother, Casey Parsons said Erica went to live with her paternal biological grandmother, a woman named Irene "Nan" Goodman in Asheville, North Carolina. The Parsons had no address or telephone number where to reach Erica so nobody in the family ever saw Erica again.

In the video link above, apparently the Parsons returned to the house to get more stuff and Sandy got into a confrontation with the next door neighbor who looked like he just wanted to "clear the air" but Sandy wasn't having any of it. After they took another car load then they squealed their tires as they drove away.

The conversations started in May 2010.
"I thank God everyday you gave us Erica," Casey Parsons told Carolyn. "I know that was very hard, but at that time you made the right choice. She is a beautiful young lady." She then goes on to say that one day Erica will want to meet Carolyn.
She also asks Carolyn not to tell "big Sandy" that she's giving her updates about Erica. "It's just that big Sandy goes along with his daddy and you know how Steve feels," Casey Parsons wrote. "But it has always hurt me because I know how you felt about your kids and I know you have always loved your kids. I thank you so much Carolyn for giving me Erica!! We love her so much. "It was nice to meet you but I don't want to come over your house. These are my mom and dad and I don't think as you being my mom. Maybe in a long time I will see you again." Please stop writing my mom because I don't like her talking to you a lot. I don't mean to be mean because I'm not a mean person. I just want me and my mom to be close and we can't with you around. Several days later, in reference to Casey being sick, Erica reportedly told Carolyn if Casey didn't get better, she'd stay with Sandy, her adoptive father. "I also stay with my Maw Maw when Mom is feeling bad," Erica wrote. "My Mom said she would help me find my birth father. I don't want but one mom and Casey is my Mom and the only one I want. I love her very much."

"Nearly a year later, Casey finally responded to a message. "Carolyn, Erica is doing perfect. Don't know why all these rumors are floating around about where she is. Sandy and I still have custody of Erica and she is our daughter," Casey wrote on February 2013, a year after she told investigators she last spoke to Erica. "We are, as parents, can allow our children to spend the night or even week with anyone who we see fit. Erica is still OUR daughter."
Casey told Carolyn that she hasn't sent her any new pictures or updates because Erica asked her not to. "I'm not going to be mean. I have never hated you and I never will," Casey Parsons wrote. "You have been through a lot in you life. I talk with Erica and try to explain this so she will start to accept you. Just today I said something to her. It takes time. Please don't worry about her."
She then says the three of them could probably meet again soon, saying she thought Erica would agree to it. "Everything you did for her was done out of love," Casey wrote."One day Erica will see this!! She's a teenager and you know what that is like."
There are several similar conversations over the next few months, including one in which Casey tells Carolyn that they recently had a family portrait made at "Young's Studio" in Locust. She says when the pictures were ready, she would send a copy to Carolyn."

"In February 2011, a message was sent to Carolyn from Casey Parsons’ account. The sender said she was Erica and that she did not want any more contact with her biological mother. Erica said she didn’t think of Carolyn as her mother. She asked that Carolyn not write Casey again."
"I love my mom and I want (to) thank you for giving birth to me and giving me to some wonderful people,” Erica said.
"The teen then said she’d like to meet her birth father and would like to see Carolyn again when she was 20 years old. Carolyn responded that she loved Erica and wanted to get to know her. A few days later, Erica told Carolyn that Casey was the only mother she wanted."

As WBTV was first to report, that biological grandmother died in 2005. Parsons, who now lives out of state said she came back to North Carolina when she found out about Erica's mysterious disappearance."

The other children are being cared for by Casey Parsons’ mother, but later this month, sources told Channel 9 they will face a juvenile judge in a court proceeding where a decision will be made regarding permanent custody."

"After leaving DSS, Casey and Sandy Parsons drove to Sherrill's office. After meeting with Sherrill briefly, all three came out of the office and walked across the street to the back entrance of the Rowan County Courthouse."
"Nothing really materialized, we hoped that we could cooperate with some folks and give them some information but nothing ever materialized," Sherrill added. The attorney said that Sandy and Casey Parsons had intended to meet with investigators from the Rowan Sheriff's Office, but that the meeting didn't take place. "That's what we thought but things just didn't work out. The timing for everybody was just off," said Sherrill."
"They would want the public to know that they are doing everything they can to get Erica back," Sherrill added. "They are cooperating with law enforcement, they're also trying to get their children back, their younger children back, and they miss them very dearly and their lives just aren't' the same. They feel like they've lost everything without them."
