[Woman's Magazine April 1996]1996-04-00: Woman’s Magazine - April 1996, PROFILE: Patsy Ramsey, by Deborah Rosenberger

"Though she takes much-deserved pride in these labors, most of her volunteer work is centered around her children. This spring, for example, she was chairperson of the science fair at High Peaks, a Core Knowledge School. Ramsey found the entire experience to be very rewarding, and she enjoyed encouraging the young people's talent. Ramsey has also co-chaired a successful fund-raising effort through the school known as the "Good Fairy Project," which she helped create from its inception four years ago."

"Like JonBenet, most of the Ramseys' friends' children attended High Peaks Elementary. At High Peaks, kids were seen not as numbers but as individuals, each with his or her own special possibilities. To make this work, the school relied heavily on volunteers.

Patsy was generous with her time and commitment to High Peaks. During the 1995-96 school year, Patsy had been in charge of the science fair,in which 138 children in kinder- garten through fourth grade had participated. She created an environment in which students could discuss their pro-

jects with professional scientists so that even the scientists felt their time was well spent. She found three judges to review each project. For a meteorology project, Patsy got a meteorologist, for biology, a biologist. Charles Elbot, the principal, said that Patsy's science fair had been arranged with "thoughtfulness, finesse, and generosity of spirit."

"Patsy's social life recovered apace with her health. Soon people saw the black Jeep Grand Cherokee or the white Jaguar once again cruising between appointments in Boulder as Patsy plunged into social activities that included the Colorado Dance Festival, the Boulder Philharmonic, the hospital auxiliary, and the university's women's club, and she played on a women's softball team called Mom's Gone Bad. She helped create the Good Fairy Project and chaired the science fair at High Peaks Elementary, where Burke and JonBenet were students."

2000-10-25: Court TV Transcript about Patsy Ramsey being ambidextrous
(Jane Wallace sitting in for Catherine Crier)

WALKER: Where she grew up, where Patsy grew up. We talked to people from her school days, teachers, etc, and we found a witness, a high school teacher who taught Patsy in the 1970's, who said very simply and matter-of-factly she is ambidextrous. She was as a child. She is now. We went to Linda Hoffmann-Pugh, the housekeeper, and when we asked her this she said, oh yeah, she said, Patsy told me she was ambidextrous. I've seen her brush her hair with her left hand. I've seen her paint with her left hand. I once saw her work on a science project with Burke, JonBenet's brother, where she wrote numbers and letters with her left hand. She is absolutely ambidextrous. This is very exciting evidence. As I'm sure Mr. Widmer, the handwriting expert, will tell you, if you look at the letter, the ransom note, the two and a half page ransom note, you can see indications that this was written by a person who was using their non-dominant hand. The shaky handwriting.
