The 911 call during the Xmas party may have been a test by someone at the party or in a van/car outside the home, testing to see the exact response time needed by police for a 911 call. This person would be someone who would know very well that the police would respond to any 911 even if an incompleted call. They then timed the exact response time. Purpose: The killer knew that if and when Ramseys phoned 911 for police, then he would have a certain amount of time to torture/kill the child and leave the house. If killer knew exact time, he could then figure out the exact method of torturing/killing with just enough time to do this in the basement room and get away with the horrible crime with just enough time.

According to eyewitness a Running Man was seen leaving scene of crime. Tall and slender. It appears that perhaps the man may have run out of time. Knew exactly the number of seconds remaining before the police car would arrive, and had to resort to running even though this would attract attention. Carried out all details of the threatened killing method, but perhaps went even further overboard into the sexual crimes, knowing he had just enough time to add this further humiliation to the victim and family.

Sounds like a revenge killing. Killer may have known John Ramsey well enough from Access Graphics to understand that the sexual violation would be severely agonizing as a form of humiliation of the child and family. Also may have known John Ramsey well enough to know that John Ramsey would IMMEDIATELY call police in violation of attempted kidnapper's demands. The kidnapper made the threatened sanctions so horrible specifically in the hopes that John Ramsey would comply with the ransom. He hoped also that the modest ransom demand would also keep John Ramsey from calling police. But when, as feared, these aspects did not prevent the 911 call, the extortionist was "forced" by his personal code of "ethics" to carry out the promised threat in the ransom note, and to do so exactly as stated in that note so that John Ramsey would feel the full weight of the retaliation that had been taken out on his daughter. There was a getaway car/van or whatever, and this van would leave the scene of the crime at a specified time. These kidnappers were highly disciplined and if the actual assailant in the house did not return to the van or car as planned, then the assailant would have been left behind. Thus, the whole thing was timed down to the last second. The man had to run away from the house to make it to the car in just the right amount of time to be whisked away and prevent being intercepted by police.

JayD.: please don't misread me, I mean no attack, just want to know where that bb is and until we can find another source(no offense intended) it's hard to accept a "running man" and a "witness" that suddenly shows up in the conversation. Agreed, options should remain open and each is entitled to pursue what they want. Just didn't want something reported as fact if it can't be confirmed. A theory is a different thing, no slam intended

Roommate's co-worker said he heard a woman on a talk radio show. Woman stated she saw man running from crime scene on Dec. 26. Tall and slender. Woman stated she informed police of seeing this man running from scene of crime. Woman stated that police did not interview her at all about her eyewitness report. That's all I know so far about "Running Man." Will try to get more specific info as soon as possible.

Remember the police said the house was "too big to search"? Well, that indicates to me that the killer could still be living in the basement.

Gwen, thanks for the compliment but I still insist I am not working directly for the Ramseys, unless they have put a hypnotic block on me as in the book Operation Mind Control.

The Ramsey home page I believe is set up by a legal group which is attempting to do some PR work and field reporters' questions. It's not really their personal home page. However, in this day and age, especially for a family so involved with computers, that would not be an unusual way to deal with the media bombardment in this case.

I did read the Boulder Daily Camera today (Sunday paper, 1/26/97) and there was a statement paraphrased by writer Alli Krupsky. She said that a city spokesperson said that there is a madman loose on the streets of Boulder. If I am remembering this wrongly, I'll eat my hat. In fact, I'm going over to Periodicals right now and check the exact quote.

The Running Man idea was from a talk show in Denver, where a woman claiming to be an eyewitness stated she saw a tall slender man running away from the scene of the crime on Dec. 26. My roommate told me the name of the talk show host, and will get the radio station numbers tomorrow and hopefully date when show aired and/or tape of this woman's statement.

If a reporter can get the information it should be written up for a news story. I have to work in the bookstore tomorrow 9-6.

Somebody with plenty of spare time contact all the radio stations with talk shows in Denver and ask them about the Running Man--man seen running from Ramsey crime scene Dec. 26. A woman neighbor in Boulder called it in to the talk show, reported it to cops, cops never interviewed her.

RUNNING MAN:

On KHOW radio in Denver about a week ago or so, a woman neighbor of Ramseys called in and stated on the air that she had seen a RUNNING MAN, tall and slender, running away from the scene of the crime on December 26. She thought it was important and so she reported her observation to the police. THE POLICE HAD NOT INVESTIGATED HER EYEWITNESS STORY AS OF THAT TIME. The woman made her statement on the morning KHOW talk show hosted by Peter Boyle. If anyone has time and inclination, get tape of show, contact neighbor, ask police to follow up? Also make sure that the RAMSEY lawyers in DENVER are aware of this claimed eyewitness story.

1. I do not work for Ramseys. If so, why aren't they sending me any money?

3. I realize Patsy might have called in that statement about RUNNING MAN, but I wanted to somehow verify/discredit the story. I heard it third- or fourth-hand.

4. I started using the Internet about 2 months ago, and it's been interesting. That's why I just popped up out of nowhere. I thought it was a bunch of hype before I got into some chat lines and did a bit of research on it.

5. I am going to set up a Website (home page) eventually but don't have the funds to throw around and not sure it would help my proofreading copy editing business yet.

6. I am also interested in so-called intelligence work, sent my resume to the CIA to work as an analyst, but due to arrests for political (nonviolent) demonstrations never expect to hear back from them. Also, I would rather work for a private, fairly progressive organization which is the type of thing I'm used to.

RUNNING MAN:

This is the closest thing we have to an eyewitness account and every time I bring it up I am ridiculed by people who seem to have their own pet theories based on circumstantial evidence.

However: A woman DID call in to a radio talk show in Denver. KHOW, Peter Boyle, about a week ago, between 5:30 and 9:00 a.m.

The woman stated she was a neighbor of the Ramseys and had seen a RUNNING MAN leaving crime scene on December 26, the day the body was found.

The woman found it curious enough to feel she should report it to the police. She said the man was tall and slender. The police have done no follow-up whatsoever to this date, as far as I know.

Others pointed out that Boulder is swarming with joggers. However, it seems unlikely that a woman neighbor would report a RUNNING MAN if that man was dressed in typical jogging clothes. I wonder if the man was just running on the street in everyday street clothing, or was running from the Ramsey property. How accurate a physical description can the woman provide? Readers in Boulder with extra time might try to follow up.

Please dump the ridicule in the thread that has already been set up for that.

Good morning jay d, we've met before. Over at Running Man, remember? If I knew it all, I would not have been brought to the state of my alias. Let me explain the source. Speculation and surmising is of course the benefit of these threads, but it is useless to glom onto every piece of info that flies around, since so much of it is just plain rumor. For instance, shortly after the murder a friend or kind stranger went to the Ramseys and boxed up the Christmas decorations from the fromt of the house and set them on the front porch. This was reported on the local news as the person did this. The next day on a national show, they shoot a closeup of the box and report that "people from all over Boulder are dropping by toys in remembrance of little JonBenet." A harmless bit of misreporting, but it just goes to show, where they don't know they make Up!

So until I hear a report about a running man from someone other then your friend of a friend of a friend who heard it on the radio, why waste time on it? Don't mean to stifle your creative mind . I've got no problem with kicking around the facts, but isn't it more useful to be sure it's the facts we are kicking? And by the way, why is everyone getting so testy? I may be Exasperated, but I can still be nice! One more thing that brings me to this state of being, I could swear that no more than 3 months ago there was a woman found murdered in Boulder in a drainage ditch covered by a piece of wood. This was mentioned in another thread. So why is BPD saying this is the only murder of '96? What criteria do they use for what murders count? As much as I would like to believe BPD is using good judgment in keeping close to the vest, I fear this infuriating lack of disclosure has much to do with protecting the image of Boulder. It's like one giant dysfunctional family, you know, if you don't talk about it, it doesn't exist. I I feel so much better now. I want this baby's death avenged, as I know we all do.

My thanks to the serious commentators here...

Anyone familiar with Boulder and the Hill area around College and 13th? If so, please try to recall the tall and slender folks around here. I remember one who used to hang out there, whom I have not seen around there lately (saw him just once since Christmas). I would like to find leads to suspects who can be identified as being similar in appearance to the guy seen RUNNING from the crime scene on Dec. 26. If you are familiar with the Hill please respond. Also, if you know the neighbor of the Ramseys who called the report in to the KHOW Peter Boyle morning talk show, please ask them to write in with a detailed description of the person they said they saw Dec. 26 running from the crime scene. It may be a completely false lead but I want to check it out. Please, if you saw someone that day and are the person who tried to report to police--write a short note in this thread. Also please do not give up and neglect to provide this eyewitness testimony to the authorities. It may be very crucial to the case.

I read on another thread that a threat was just recently made via phone against Access Graphics in Boulder. Is this verified? The message said caller had a raspy voice. Can this voice be linked to the voice of any recorded phone messages of prior employees at Access? Are phone messages between employees and outside friends recorded there? I'm sure they aren't but possibly voice analysis or computerized audio methods could be used to normalize voice if distorted by computer or other techniques. Raspy voice was mentioned... do current or former Access employees have friends with raspy voices that can be recalled as possible lead... All the obvious questions, sorry... Does voice indicate a heavy smoker? Can't help suspecting RUNNING MAN talked of on Peter Boyle A.M. KHOW radio--neighbor saw him running away from crime scene Dec. 26 (allegedly).

Jay D. - Why do you continually bring up "The Running Man"? As was asked before, limit your mention of the true FACTS as we know them. This information is not credible because:

1. You do not have first-hand knowledge of the information (roomate heard radio broadcast).

2. Because of the anonymity of the caller, validity is doubtful.

3. There is NO corroboration(SP) with other news sources. Why hasn't this CALLER approached one of the hundreds of media personnel in Boulder?

Each time I read one of your posts, Jay D, I get a feeling that you're putting just as much spin on the story as the Ramsey's PR people are.

Drop the RUNNING MAN references and come up with something new. Why don't you try aliens and Elvis, at least amuse us in this forum...

Jay D's roommate's cousin's mother-in-law's neice's neighbor's babysitter's teacher's husnband's boss's sister heard a woman on a radio talk show in Boulder say she saw a tall thin man running from the Ramsey house at some point after the crime was committed. Nobody else in the world has picked up on this, but Jay D is convinced he's the culprit. And maybe he's right. See Running Man thread for sightings around the country.

Why not post the real Running Man lead info? Someone avoiding the truth??
To wit:

(1). roommate stated that a co-worker in his print shop had heard KHOW radio Peter Boyle A.M. talk show within a few weeks after the murder of JonBenet.

(2) Caller on talk show stated she saw Running Man described as tall thin with short brown hair running from crime scene morning perhaps early morning of the day JonBenet's body was later discovered in the basement.

(3) Caller stated she had informed police when she realized this eyewitness account might be significant if the Running Man was running away from crime scene after killing JonBenet.

(4) Caller stated that police never interviewed her about her claimed eyewitness report.

(5) Caller stated she gave her name and address (close neighbor of Ramseys) to the police.

(6) I reported this exactly (or almost exactly this way months/years ago on BoulderNews

(7) Ridicule of this purported eyewitness account has been the main noticeable reaction from amateur investigators. Police have noted the info but I know of no further investigation.

(8). Therefore Running Man is a valid lead or at least a valid eyewitness account as far as can be determined to date (I have not yet attempted to get KHOW taped radio shows to verify; was assuming police would do this.)
