-Broomfield police say they may have stopped a pedophile in his tracks with the arrest of a 21-year-old man on charges of sexually assaulting four young girls.
Detectives investigating similar assault charges in northeastern Colorado discovered homemade child-pornography pictures, other photos of JonBenét Ramsey and student directories for two Broomfield schools at the home of Sean King.
In the directories, from Birch Elementary School and Broomfield Heights Middle School, several female students' names were marked or highlighted, court records show.
Investigators also found a handwritten list — titled "S.K.'s Little Girl Black Book" — of girl's names, addresses, phone numbers and what year they were in elementary school.
"I think we caught him before he started acting out on those," Broomfield police Detective Derek Barr said Thursday.
King, who apparently splits his time between residences in Ovid and Broomfield, was arrested last fall by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department on charges of sexually assaulting a young girl. Charges of sexual assault on a child and sexual exploitation of a child are still pending in Sedgwick County, according to court records.
In April, after reviewing evidence from the Ovid investigation and interviewing King, Broomfield police obtained a warrant to arrest King on charges that he sexually assaulted four girls, Barr said.
King was transferred to the Boulder County Jail this week and was formally charged with the Broomfield assaults Thursday.
According to an arrest affidavit, King detailed a sexual relationship with a 13-year- old "girlfriend," and several other girls offered accounts of such underage relationships with him over the past several years.
One girl also told police of seeing King molesting a 4-month-old boy he was baby- sitting, according to the affidavit.
King admitted to police he was attracted to children, saying he likes the "younger- girl look." Poetry found in his Ovid home read: "No one else would like how I find these girls so lovely."
When asked about his photos of JonBenét Ramsey, the 6-year-old former Little Miss Colorado killed in Boulder 2 ½ years ago, King told officers he thought "she was beautiful."
King is being held in the Boulder County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is July 6.
