Source of JW Forum Problems Identified

Washington, DC – August 12, 1999: Given the horrible problems that the JW Forum has been experiencing recently, shadow decided that it was time to track down the source of these problems. In short order, shadow’s investigative reporting led him to the Ramsey “Dream Team #2.” A little background information is required for those of you who did not read the “Dream Team #2” Sludge Report of April 13, 1999:

Back then, Jim Marino, a close friend of the Ramseys, said that JR left his job at Jaleo North America to devote full-time to leading a “world class” team of volunteers in finding the killer(s) of JBR. Mr. Marino said that top investigators throughout the free world were lining up to follow JR’s lead. The list included retired FBI, CIA, NSA, and KGB agents, as well as noted private eyes. Former FBI profiler, Gregg McCray, laughingly called this “Dream Team #2,” and asked, “Why weren’t they doing this all along?”

At that time, shadow tracked down and interviewed “Unclean Larry” Monihan who worked for more than 10 years as a city detective up north and 8 years with the FBI, before becoming a private eye. Excerpts from our original discussion of “Dream Team #2” is provided below:

shadow: Have you heard anything about the “world-class” team of investigators that JR is assembling to find his daughter’s killer?

Unclean: In fact, shadow, I’m a charter member of the team.

s: Charter member?

U: Well, actually, right now only Nelson “Nerd” Daniels and I have been hired. It is my understanding that JR and PR are reviewing resumes as you and I speak.

s: Hired? I thought this was an all volunteer outfit.

U: Get real, shadow. JR is a “world-class” CEO… he’s going to run this operation like a well-oiled business. His managers must be on the payroll so they report directly to him, are loyal, don’t have their own agendas, and keep things going in the right direction.

s: I can understand that. Who is this Nerd guy and what is he going to manage?

U: The only thing I know about Daniels is that he has been convicted twice for computer hacking. I believe he is managing some kind of Internet effort. He has this sound proof room loaded with computer stuff. An ex-CIA guy was in talking with Nerd yesterday – I couldn’t hear what they were saying though the sound proof glass, but Nerd was really excited, yelling, walking in circles, and shaking his finger at the guy.

At any rate, recalling the above comments concerning one Nerd Daniels, I called Monihan at “Dream Team #2” headquarters in Boulder to get a “progress report” on the team’s efforts.

shadow: How are things going at “Dream Team” headquarters?

Unclean: Slow, shadow. As you probably know, our retired Terminix guy found the elusive spider, but Lou Smit accidentally sat on it before it could be questioned.

s: Yeah… tragic.

U: We went to the Ramsey’s old house in Boulder and found 8,569 different traces of DNA and turned them over to Alex Hunter. And, aside from finding four or five more suspects for the GJ to investigate, that’s about it.

s: Tell me about this Nerd guy. Is he maintaining the Ramsey Web Page?

U: Naw… that kind of petered-out while he was posting to the JW Forum.

s: Was posting to the JW Forum?

U: Yeah. My understanding is he was getting flamed so badly that he quit posting. But he’s been getting revenge.

s: How so?

U: Well, he has been bragging lately that he’s been bringing the JW Forum “down.” Every time Chris gets it back up, Nerd brings it down again.

s: Wow! Is that legal?

U Who knows what’s legal or not in the JBR case? We are all getting bored, and at least it gives Nerd something to do. Listen, I’ve got to go to the county courthouse and check to see if this Darnay Hoffman guy can really run for DA in Boulder. Talk to you later, shadow.
