Ric Mims quits Peterson Charity | ILL | "On Wednesday night [12/12/2007], Mims quit the board of a newly established Stacy Peterson charity, he said. Sharon Bychowski, Peterson's next-door neighbor and Stacy's good friend, said she and fellow board members were furious about the National Enquirer article, which focused on Peterson's son Kris. The story quoted Mims saying Kris told Bychowski that on the day Stacy disappeared, he heard his parents fighting in their bedroom before "suddenly things got quiet." Bychowski disputed the account. She said she never talked to Kris about his parents fighting and was offended by the article, which she said "left Kris out to dry." |

The event raised about $2,000 |
ILL | "Patrick Loome, a 2002 graduate of Bolingbrook High School, organized a fundraiser at a bar and grill, On the Rockz, to raise money for the search. The fundraiser was scheduled for Friday because that is when he could get a place to hold the event, not because it was exactly two months since Peterson, 23, disappeared." - "Loome was in an English class with Peterson as a freshman. He said he met her about a decade ago. "I wanted to get things back to the search effort and help find her," said Loome, who organized the event with his Romeoville-based company, Spungout Entertainment. The event started at 5 p.m. Friday and was to run until about 2 a.m. By 7 p.m., about 20 people had arrived. Loome organized a raffle and a silent auction, with items including gift certificates and Harlem Globetrotters tickets. His goal was to raise $10,000 for the Friends of Stacy Peterson fund, which is for the search." |

“My biggest concern is that Drew gets away with two murders,” Mims said." | ILL | "The group [12/28/2007 Stacy Peterson Fundraiser - On The Rockz] also sold T-shirts with Peterson’s missing persons sign and “Bring Stay Home” buttons. The buttons were all bought and given away by Ric Mims, a friend of Drew Peterson’s before he sold his story to the National Enquirer. Mims, who stayed with Peterson in the first weeks after his wife’s disappearance, now believes his former friend is responsible for Stacy Peterson’s disappearance and for the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. “My biggest concern is that Drew gets away with two murders,” Mims said. Although Mims’ decision to sell his story to the National Enquirer angered many Stacy Peterson supporters, Mims said he did it to raise money for the search and is still involved in many search activities. “We want to keep the press on Drew,” Mims said. “Right now he’s walking around with a lot of confidence." |

"The search for Stacy fundraiser will be held at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park and the doors open at 1 p.m" | ILL | 02/26/2008 (abclocal.go.com) "Fundraiser to raise money for Peterson search" "Family and friends of Stacy Peterson will hold a fundraiser in Bolingbrook on Sunday. [03/02/2008]" - "They say the winter weather has made it next to impossible for police and volunteers to resume the search. So they are waiting for a break in the snow, and for temperatures to rise, so that hopefully dive teams can go into ponds and areas that have not been searched yet. Peterson's neighbors held a news conference to promote an upcoming fundraiser on Sunday and to say that the investigation is still moving ahead. "As soon as we can get where the snow goes away, and we can get to water searching, we have the water team that's more than willing to come back as soon as we can, and as soon as the weather breaks for us," said Sharon Bychowski, Stacy Peterson's friend. "I talked to Illinois State Police two to three times a week and never get the feeling that it stalled. If anything, I always am hopeful, with the understanding that this case is still going full force ahead," said Pamela Bosco, family spokesperson." |

Over the weekend they passed out 1,500 fliers with information about a fundraiser this Sunday to pay for the search. A non-profit group was established in her name. A Web site dedicated to the case remains active." - "On Tuesday, Bychowski and Pam Bosco, a spokeswoman for Stacy's family, held a news conference at Bychowski's home, next door to Peterson's. A 3-by-4-foot sign promoting the fundraiser stood outside. Bychowski said she plans to erect a sign featuring Stacy's face with the question "Where's Stacy?" Part of her motivation is to provide a continual reminder about the search to Peterson." |
