"Peterson has not withdrawn completely from public view, and Brodsky said he subscribes to the axiom, "You don't fear the dog that barks." ILL 06/01/2008 (www.wbbm780.com) "Death Threats Constant for Drew Peterson"
"What is life like if you're Drew Peterson? For one thing, it means a steady stream of death threats. Attorney Joel Brodsky said Peterson has received "literally dozens -- if not more" since the disappearance of Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy, gained national prominence in November. In reaching that number, Brodsky said he does not includes threats that he considers "veiled." He said he is counting only those that essentially say, "We know where you are and you're a dead man." Brodsky said the threats have come by e-mail and U.S. Mail. Those that are e-mailed are given to local authorities. Those that come by U.S. Mail are given to postal inspectors to follow-up."
"In fact, in court Friday in Joliet, Brodsky filed a motion seeking permission for Peterson to take his children out of state on vacation. Judge Richard Schoenstedt (SHANE'-stet) will hear the motion June 30, along with a motion to throw out the felony unlawful weapons possession charge lodged against Peterson last month."

Savio Bathtub
"Investigators hauled away the tub in recent days for use in the future prosecution of the homicide of Kathleen Savio" ILL 06/1/2008 (www.suntimes.com) "Police seize Savio bathtub"
"State Police investigators probing the death of Drew Peterson's third wife have custody of the bathtub where the woman was found dead in 2004, authorities said. Investigators hauled away the tub in recent days for use in the future prosecution of the homicide of Kathleen Savio, said Charles Pelkie, a spokesman for the Will County state's attorney's office. The bathtub removal was done with the full cooperation of the family that now owns the home, Pelkie said. The family was compensated, a source said."
"The Sun-Times has reported that Stacy Peterson told a clergyman her husband boasted he killed Savio but made it look like an accident. Drew Peterson has been named as a suspect in Stacy's disappearance. He has denied involvement in Savio's death or Stacy Peterson's disappearance."

Ebay: Ended 06/06/08
"As of Monday night, no one had placed a bid" ILL 06/2/2008 (mysuburbanlife.com) "Cap signed by Drew Peterson back on eBay"
"A "Today Show" cap signed by Drew Peterson is back on eBay but the auction is having even less success then the first attempt to sell the item. The cap originally went on the auction block May 14 but was taken down several days later. At the time, one person had bid the minimum $1,000. A description of the cap says it came from Peterson's appearance on the "Today Show" earlier this year to discuss the Oct. 28 disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy and the March 2004 drowning of his third wife Kathleen Savio." - "Peterson has said he signed the cap for a friend who later gave it to her mother, who apparently is behind the auction. The listed seller goes by "arkhyn" and is the same eBay member who put the cap up for sale originally. The seller did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment Monday night. The latest auction went live on Friday, again with a starting bid of $1,000. As of Monday night, no one had placed a bid.

"The bill was amended to apply only to first-degree murder cases" ILL 06/3/2008 "Proposed law targeting Drew Peterson may get another chance"
"Legislation that could affect a possible prosecution of former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson stalled in the Illinois Senate when lawmakers ran out of time before adjournment over the weekend. "We have hit a snag," said the bill's chief sponsor, state Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi (D- Joliet). The measure, backed by the Will County state's attorney's office, would allow a judge to decide whether hearsay testimony could be admitted into court if it is proved that the defendant contributed to the disappearance of a witness by illegal means. The bill was amended to apply only to first-degree murder cases."
"Wilhelmi said he is confident that the bill - which initially passed the Senate 56-0 and cleared the House, with amendments, 110-1 - could easily pass out of the Senate again later this month. The Senate must agree to the amended version the House voted on."

Steve Peterson picked up eight guns today ILL 06/4/2008 (www.wandtv.com) "Drew Peterson's son picks up seized weapons, attorney says"
"Former Bolingbrook Police Sergeant Drew Peterson's son has picked up eight guns that authorities seized from Peterson's house last year. Peterson's attorney Joel Brodsky says Steve Peterson retrieved the guns Wednesday from the state police, which seized them as part of an investigation into the October disappearance of Drew Peterson's wife, Stacy. Last month, a judge ruled Peterson could transfer ownership of the guns to his son and that authorities must turn them over."

"Yelton's father, Anthony Cales, said he did not know where his son would be living now that he has been released from prison" ILL 06/5/2008 (suburbanchicagonews) "Stacy's brother out of prison"
"Missing mom Stacy Peterson's sex offender brother was sprung from prison Wednesday but had nothing to say about the mysterious case of his sister's disappearance. Stacy's husband, embattled ex-Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson, however, said his brother-in-law, Yelton Cales, has spoken to him a few times over the course of Cales' most recent incarceration. He said Cales called him and "just wanted to talk and stuff" and that he last heard from him "about a month ago."
"Cales, 28, served out the remainder of a 4-½-year sentence for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and returned to the unincorporated Lisle Township home of his sister, Cassandra Cales, and her boyfriend, Bruce Zidarich, on Wednesday afternoon. Cales served part of his sentence and was released on parole. But he violated the terms and was sent back to prison to finish his sentence, which ended Wednesday."

[Drew Peterson]
"I think Sharon wants to see me naked," Peterson said. He then laughed.
What do the words read on the front of Drew's short?

"It Is Not My Job To Blow Sunshine Up Your Ass"
"No. They're mine," she [Sharon] said. "Tell (Brodsky) I said, 'Bite me."
"Since he [Peterson] felt the need to open my garage door, I need to protect myself," she [Sharon] said."
ILL 06/10/2008 (www.suburbanchicagonews.com) "DREW CAUGHT ON FILM?"
Drew Peterson says State Police are using cameras on his neighbor's home to watch him
"Peterson discovered his next-door neighbor, Sharon Bychowski, has surveillance cameras mounted on her home, cameras he claims are trained on his front yard and on his backyard swimming pool. "I think Sharon wants to see me naked," Peterson said. He then laughed. Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky, did not find the matter quite as amusing. "How would you feel if the state police had video surveillance of your front yard?" Brodsky said, accusing the cops of putting the cameras on Bychowski's house. State police did not return calls for comment, but Bychowski says the cameras are all hers."
"Bychowski said she installed the cameras out of fear of Peterson after he got a hold of a remote opener for her garage door in March. "Since he felt the need to open my garage door, I need to protect myself," she said." - "Brodsky does not believe Bychowski. "I really don't," he said. "Maybe she doesn't want Drew to know the state police are watching him." Regardless of whether the cops or Bychowski put the cameras up, Brodsky is intent on having them turned away from his client's home. If it is the police, he questioned the constitutionality of surveilling Peterson. If the cameras do indeed belong to Bychowski, he said, then his client is the victim of a "clear-cut invasion of privacy." "The first thing we have to do is figure out who's doing it. I'm not taking (Bychowski's) word for it," Brodsky said. "If it turns out it is her, I'll take action. I promise you."

Smith entered the annex at 1:15 p.m. but did not re-appear after several groups of people left the building at 4 p.m." - "In early March, Smith told WLS-FM radio show host Roe Conn that Stacy Peterson contacted him days before she disappeared. "Thursday's meeting of the Republican-controlled board is expected to be a step toward a proposed referendum measure in November on eliminating the elected coroner in favor of an appointed medical examiner."
"The board has scheduled Dr. Michael Baden, former New York medical examiner and a renowned forensic pathologist, to testify about the advantages and disadvantages of an examiner's office" ILL 06/12/08 "Will Co Board GOP members consider replacing coroner with medical examiner"
"A noted forensic pathologist is slated to testify Thursday before the Will County Board at the request of GOP members who are exploring the possibility of replacing the coroner with a medical examiner. The meeting is the latest assault on Coroner Patrick O'Neil, a Democrat. He is facing a re-election challenge from a former employee amid criticism of his office's handling of the investigation into the death of Kathleen Savio, former wife of Drew Peterson, who is a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy."
"I've gotten a lot of criticism in my area about how some facets of the Peterson case were handled by the coroner's office," said County Board Majority Leader Wayne McMillan (R-Bolingbrook). "[Some] of the perceptions are that the coroner's office should have played more of a defining part in that whole coroner's inquest" involving the cause of Savio's death."
"Now, the board has scheduled Dr. Michael Baden, former New York medical examiner and a renowned forensic pathologist, to testify about the advantages and disadvantages of an examiner's office. He also has had a role in Savio's case. He performed an autopsy on her remains, which were exhumed in November as part of the state police's new investigation."
"A lot of us feel that this is a political maneuver in an election year," said County Board Minority Whip Walt Adamic (D- Joliet). "Pat's [O'Neil] done a good job . . . This whole thing was done for political reasons rather than anything else, and it seems like when you do things for political reasons, that's not the best way to govern."

"The board is considering seeking a referendum to place on the ballot the issue of creating a medical examiner’s office to replace the coroner’s office."
"Bolingbrook Police chief Ray McGury, who attended the meeting, said he had no particular preference regarding the type of office for investigating deaths, saying “they both have value." ILL 06/12/08 Coroner vs. medical examiner debate rages on in Will County Board"
"Renowned pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, former chief medical examiner for New York City, made a presentation to the Will County Board this morning that included sharp criticism among board members in support of Jharris 6/12/08 be more specific about the party lines: seems to me GOP= for, Dem = against. One line would do., and against, the notion the County Coroner’s Office should be eliminated and replaced with a Medical Examiner’s Office. Baden, who was invited to make the presentation by Ann Dralle, R-District 3, said both forms of office have positive value, but said medical examiners are trained doctors with up to 12 years training as forensic pathologists. “Both have their pros. Coroners do a good job dealing with families (over deaths) and can be trained, but they don’t have the 12 years of training and experience forensic pathologists have,” he said."
"During a question-and-answer session John Anderson, D-District 1, peppered Baden with questions about his qualifications and his history as a paid expert witness before James Moustis, chairman of the committee, told Anderson his questioning was out of order. “I am not going to let you cross-examine Dr. Baden,” Moustis said. Baden said he was not being compensated for appearing, other than $450 to cover the cost of his travel to Illinois."
