Peterson: "He was just a kid on the street that I befriended, tried to keep him out of trouble" More on this story under 01/07/2008 |
ILL | "Meanwhile, a friend of Drew Peterson's was released Wednesday [01/16/2008] from the Will County Adult Detention Facility after posting 10 percent of a $50,000 bail after he was accused of beating his ex-girlfriend and her friend, then allegedly threatening a witness. Michael J. Robinson, 34, of Bolingbrook was charged with felony intimidation, misdemeanor battery and domestic battery, according to police and court documents." "His [Michael Robinson] friendship with [Drew] Peterson came to light after Ric Mims, a one-time friend of the former sergeant, told the National Enquirer that Robinson provided Peterson with a cell phone after police seized his old one as part of a search warrant. Mims said Peterson and Robinson behaved suspiciously, communicating in handwritten notes. Peterson said the only note passed contained his cell phone number. Peterson could not be reached for comment Wednesday but said last week he has known Robinson for nearly two decades. "He was just a kid on the street that I befriended, tried to keep him out of trouble," Peterson said." |

Reportedly text message sent from the Sprint Nextel Web site at 9:47 a.m. Sept. 20, 2007 referred to Stacy as "my love" Peterson turned phone over to ISP 12/20/07 |
ILL | "Drew Peterson's attorney said Wednesday that a racy message sent to Stacy Peterson's cell phone in September shows she was having an affair and lends credence to the theory that the missing woman left her husband for another man. The cell phone—which attorney Joel Brodsky said Stacy replaced and gave to her teenage stepson shortly before she vanished Oct. 28—allegedly contained the text message sent from the Sprint Nextel Web site at 9:47 a.m. Sept. 20. In the steamy, two-sentence message, the anonymous author referred to Stacy as "my love" and thanked her for their wild physical activity the previous evening, according to a transcript provided to the Tribune by Brodsky" "Brodsky said his client turned over the phone to state police Dec. 20 after discovering the message "locked or stored somehow" in the device. A private detective hired by Peterson tracked the message to the Sprint Nextel site." - "Brodsky said his client was not the author. "We're hoping [investigators] can trace the message," he said. "We wouldn't be that stupid to ask them to trace a message that would lead back to Drew." The lawyer downplayed the idea that the text message might cast more suspicion on Peterson by providing another possible motive for Stacy's disappearance. "You can have all the motives you want—motives don't make you guilty," he said." |

Savio Autopsy results delayed due to toxicology tests | ILL | "The results of toxicology tests being done on the body of Kathleen Savio are taking longer than normal because of the complexity of requested tests. “Following the autopsy conducted Nov. 13 on Kathleen Savio by independent pathologist Dr. Larry Blum, toxicology testing was requested on various samples,” said Patrick O’Neil, Will County coroner. About a month later, O’Neil said, Blum requested additional toxicology testing that O’Neil said were “exotic” and “very complicated.” The complexity of the testing, coupled with the December request, has pushed back the anticipated release of the full autopsy report, he said." |

Michael Robinson issued subpoena to appear before the grand jury Helped move car TO Clow? |
ILL | 01/07/2008 Craig Wall (myfoxchicago.com) reporting (VIDEO): "Peterson Says Racy Message Proves Stacy Had Affair" CRAIG WALL: "Could a racy text message sent to the missing Stacy Peterson be the clue that leads investigators to some answers? Her family and friends are skeptical. But as Craig Wall reports, Drew Peterson and his attorney claim the mystery message is very significant." "In the meantime the grand jury has issued a second subpoena to Michael Robinson, a friend of Drew's recently arrested in a domestic battery incident. A source says Robinson is suspected of helping Drew move Stacy's vehicle to the Clow Airport near their home the very night she disappeared." |

CRAIG WALL: "Drew Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky believes the sexually explict text message sent to Stacy Peterson's phone on September 20th could have come from the man Stacy susposedly ran off with." JOEL BRODSKY: "If the person who sent this text message has also moved away from home and vanished, we now know who Stacy ran off with." CRAIG WALL: "Drew Peterson says he discovered the text message on the phone last month. The phone used to be Stacys but it was given to her son when Stacy got a new one." DREW PETERSON: "There's like 67 text messages on there that he had gotten and the first one was the shocking one." CRAIG WALL: "The phone was turned over to State Police under a search warrant but tracing the sender could be difficult, that's because the message was sent through the Sprint Nextel so there is no phone number to indicate who sent it. Drew says the text means one thing." DREW PETERSON: "It means there was somebody else that Stacy was involved with as of September out there. So State Police should be looking at that person too." CRAIG WALL: "Stacy Peterson's family and friends are questioning the timing of this story put out by Drew's attorny and they are calling it part of a smear campaign against Stacy." |

"With or without a body, she [Deborah Denno] said, "you need circumstantial evidence." | ILL | "Without a body, the average U.S. citizen would probably tell you that it is impossible," said Daniel Bibb, a former New York assistant district attorney who helped prosecute Dr. Robert Bierenbaum, a plastic surgeon convicted of killing his wife and dropping her body into the ocean from a small plane. Suspects have been brought to trial - and convicted - in cases where not only is the body missing, but physical evidence linking the suspect to the crime doesn't exist. "A body is such a critical component of a homicide case ... but it is something you can overcome," said Deborah Denno, a Fordham University law professor who has researched so-called "no-body cases." With or without a body, she said, "you need circumstantial evidence." |

ILL | "On The Record" Pam Bosco Interview with Greta Van Susteren, "Summary of text message story that has been circulating" GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: Pam, what do you think about this news about the message? PAM BOSCO: "As I've said before, with all the other anonymous tips they've brought forward, there's not much LE can do with this information since the message came from a public domain site. There is no information that Stacy Peterson was having an affair of any kind. Illinois State Police does not believe that Stacy Peterson had an affair either. Illinois State Police has cleared Scott Rosetto of all suspicion. I have not spoken with anyone in the family at all, but Cassandra Cales has. Cassandra Cales has spoken with the kids, but nothing in depth with Drew Peterson. The family speaks with Illinois State Police regularly and know that they are going full speed ahead. We can't say what will happen in time, we don't know what they will bring forth. We just have to be patient. Thomas Morphey is with Illinois State Police in custody and he is somewhere with them. I understand no one is allowed to speak to him." |

"" | ILL | "On The Record" Joel Brodsky Interview with Greta Van Susteren JOEL BRODSKY: On Dec 19 Drew Peterson called me and told me he found the message on Stacy Peterson's cell phone--she had gotten the new cell phone a couple of weeks before and gave the old one to one of their teenage sons. We have not been able to track down who sent the message because it was sent through the website and not through a cell phone. We're hoping ISP through their warrant can track down the IP address of the person who sent the message. The message had the date stamp of September 20, 2007. There were a number of text messages on there sent to Drew Peterson's son, but this was the only one directed at Stacy. This particular one was saved in a locked area of the cell phone. - GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: Has Drew Peterson been able to determine where Stacy Peterson was that night? - JOEL BRODSKY: Despite what everyone seems to believe, Drew Peterson did not track Stacy Peterson's every move. She apparently had a lover and he has no idea who that lover is. He has no idea where she was that night except that she was with her lover. |

Pam Bosco: "state police informed her the critical break in the case -- an anonymous text message -- is actually worthless" |
ILL | "Pam Bosco, the legal guardian of Stacy's sister, Cassandra Cales, said state police informed her the critical break in the case -- an anonymous text message -- is actually worthless. "They said, 'Pam, it's not worthwhile,'" said Bosco, who has taken on the role of spokeswoman for Stacy's family. Peterson said he discovered a racy text message on a cell phone that belonged to his missing wife but was later given to his son. The Sept. 20 message said, "You my love are the hottest little (expletive) in the world." - "Bosco said state police told her the investigation yielded nothing of substance. "They said they tried," she said. "They knew about it way back when. They've done a thorough investigation of her contacts. "It's an anonymous ridiculous text message from a Web site," Bosco said. She also said police informed her the message "can't be traced" back to its sender." |

"I don't know who she's talking to." - "Proof of affair?" - "Bosco suspected there was bad intent behind the discovery of the text message supposedly sent to Stacy, and she laid it at the feet of Brodsky and Peterson.
"They want to slam Stacy," she said. "She was not having an affair," Bosco added. Brodsky begged to differ, and held the text message, which also references a sexual act, up as the evidence. "It proves that the girl was having an affair," he [Joel Brodsky] said. "That's what it proves." |

Drew Peterson (re: Sunday's tribute ): "Did they have a pinata with my picture on it?" |
ILL | "During the service, Candace Aikin recalled a bittersweet story from more than 10 years ago, when she was in town from California visiting her family. During her visit, Candace learned that her, deeply troubled sister -- Stacy's mother -- had been arrested and had claimed to be Candace. She sorted things out with police, and when she was leaving to return to California, the then-13-year-old Stacy said, "Aunt Candy, you are always wanted in Illinois, and it's not by the police." "Noticeably absent from Sunday's tribute was Stacy's husband. Drew Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, maintains Stacy isn't missing and that she has run off with another man. Reached at home after the event, Peterson asked, "Did they have a pinata with my picture on it?" |

Help me Jesus !! A Dating Game?? Are these people insane? |
ILL | "As WBBM's Steve Miller reports, it is a bizarre turn in an already extraordinary story. Drew Peterson - named a suspect in his wife's disappearance - has already said he believes she ran off with another man. And Peterson has made public appeals for her to re-emerge - and for anyone who knows anything to come forward. Now, Peterson and his lawyer have called "The Steve Dahl Show" on 104.3 Jack FM, where his lawyer suggested a "Win a Date with Drew" contest. And Drew Peterson agreed. Here's Dahl. And then Peterson. Dahl: "I'll line up the bachelorettes. And Drew gets to pick from the three girls." Peterson: "Sounds good. Only three?" Dahl: "I think we're probably going to send a chaperone on the date, just to be on the safe..." Peterson: "Oh, come on..." Dahl: "I'm kidding, I'm kidding." Late in the day, the station's general manager said the contest won't happen. Jack FM and WBBM are owned by the same company." |

His questions for potential bachelorettes included, "Do you need a boob job?" "Do you get PMS?" "Do you now or have you ever lived in a home that required license plates?" and "Do you have any tattoos and are they spelled correctly?" Brodsky surprised Dahl by calling in to Wednesday's show. After a general on-air discussion with Dahl and Peterson about the case, Brodsky suggested Dahl host an on-air Drew Peterson dating contest after Peterson said, "The ladies are coming back around." Dahl agreed, saying he would line up some willing women. Dahl posted details on his Web site, information that had been taken down by Wednesday afternoon." - "Bowen said the dating game was conceived by Peterson and Brodsky during an "interesting and unusual morning on Jack FM." "We followed her a few times. He'd have me watch her a few times at work while he did whatever it is he needed to do. "I was helping him. I thought he was going through a divorce, and just needed somebody to help him." - "He said that he and Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, would communicate by two-way radios, and that Peterson suspected Savio was having an affair. The surveillance took place in late 2003 or early 2004, Mims said, which would have been after Peterson was already married to Stacy but before his divorce settlement with Savio was finalized." "When asked if he felt bad about his participation, Mims said his biggest regret was the day he met Peterson. "I was not participating in [any] harassment. I never participate in any harassment," Mims said. "At the time, I was just helping a friend. . .with this, what I thought was going through a divorce. They wore Find Stacy Peterson T-shirts and buttons, and left after about three hours in the grand jury room. "It went well. They just asked how Stacy was. She was a good person," Cales said, as the pair looked for their car in the parking garage. She said it was the first time she had appeared before the grand jury. She declined to share details about what she was asked. "They're just working the investigation. I trust the police, and I'm not going to say anything that would hurt the case," she said. "We went over a lot of stuff." "[Bruce] Zidarich, who was the last person known to talk to Stacy besides Drew Peterson, or perhaps her children, said he was quizzed [By the Will Co Grand Jury 01/24/2008] about that last phone call. Stacy was supposed to go help him paint the interior of a house that day. "She said she had been laying in bed for a couple of hours. I told her about the painting at the house. She said it was going to be a long day," Zidarich said, adding that she told him she was in bed because she was depressed." |

I saw her at 3:15 in the afternoon. I didn't speak to her again. When I saw her I stepped back, I walked over near her, looked her straight in the face, and I walked off." (Caller went on to say that they believe SP is staying at a place called the "Dream Center," which is a women's shelter in Peoria.) - GVS: Did you turn this over to the ISP? - JB: Yes I turned it over right away. - GVS: Have you sent anyone to Peoria to check this out to see if SP is staying at this Dream Center?" - JB: I have not sent anyone to the location -- that is part of the motive of releasing it to the press--so they will go look and see if she is there. We have no subpoena powers and our investigators cannot go into a women's shelter to discover if SP is registered there. - GVS: The message makes reference to "seeing SP again"--have you had previous messages from this person about seeing SP? - JB: From the context of the voicemail and the reference to Peoria and the comment of seeing her "again" we believe it is the person who sent the Thanksgiving letter about the Peoria grocery store sighting of Stacy. |

Drew Peterson "insisted the signature is valid but referred questions about it to his attorney" | ILL | "Before Drew Peterson could buy a house in 2002 for himself and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Stacy Cales, he needed his estranged wife, Kathleen Savio, to sign off on the deal. But Savio's signature on the legal document looks markedly different from more than a dozen others she had written before she died in 2004, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found. That's definitely not her signature," Savio's sister, Anna Doman, said after viewing a copy of the one-page power of attorney that Drew Peterson himself notarized. "I know that's not her signature." "Ellen Mulcrone Schuetzner, whom the Sun-Times hired to study legal and business papers tied to Peterson and Savio, questioned the "proportions of letterforms, ending strokes, slant, spacing and size of the signature." Schuetzner, however, couldn't reach a definitive conclusion based on the quality and number of documents available to her. "I can't eliminate the possibility that it is or isn't her signature," said Schuetzner, who has nearly 30 years of experience in her field." "But it's kind of painful, so I don't really spend a lot of time walking down memory lane." "Stacy would have turned 24 this past week, but there was no celebration at the Peterson home where the couple's four children were told to act like it was any other day. "We didn't celebrate. We kind of like didn't want to remind the children that she was gone," Peterson said. The two youngest children have been told their mom is on vacation, Peterson said. "It's a little harder on the little girl," he said. "You know once in a while she'll ask, you know, 'I want my mommy or where's mommy.' And that's hard." "And somehow, Peterson said, he is still popular with women. He joked on a local radio show about participating in a dating game. "I find it totally strange," he told Avila. "I'll be out somewhere, and I'll get phone numbers put in my hand." Peterson said he hasn't called any of those numbers, but added, "I'm keeping my options open." |

2008-01-25 | www.suntimes.com January 25, 2008 Executor: James B. Carroll Witnesses: Alex J. Morelli Gary L. Marcolina THE WILL 03/02/1997 FULL Transcipt HERE The 03/02/1997 WILL was hand written by Drew Peterson |
Investigators have been interested in the WILL since 12/19/2007 If the WILL was filed 15 days after Savio's death 03/01/2004 then why did it take until 03/23/2005 for Morelli and Marcolina to testify in court that Kathleen and Drew signed the will? |
ILL | "Questions are also being raised about a two-page handwritten will signed by Savio and Drew Peterson that's dated March 2, 1997. The document was taken into evidence by investigators Dec. 19, court records indicate. One of the two witnesses who signed the will, Bolingbrook police officer Alex J. Morelli, has appeared before a Will County grand jury hearing evidence about Savio's death. Attempts to reach Morelli and the other witness, Gary L. Marcolina, were unsuccessful. In a recent interview, Peterson, 53, said there is nothing wrong with the will, which was filed 15 days after Savio was found dead on March 1, 2004. "We just tucked it away, and I found it after she died," Peterson said of the will. "There's nothing sinister and out-of-line about it. Everything was done proper." "At the time she died, Savio, 40, was in a court battle with Peterson over proceeds from the sale of a tavern they'd owned. Peterson, she claimed, had kept all the money from that sale. The will named Peterson's uncle James B. Carroll executor of Savio's estate. Carroll went on to award Peterson control of virtually all of Savio's assets -- even though Peterson and Savio had divorced. "The actions of the Executor were not in the best interest of the Estate or its beneficiaries," wrote Richard J. Kavanagh, the court-appointed administrator for Savio's estate." Kavanagh was involved in the case because no one from Savio's family formally volunteered to represent the estate in court. He called the will a "purported will" in court papers. "My concern is that this is a handwritten will that just popped up after she died," Kavanagh said this week. "It gives you the sense that it's something that's concocted." A judge, however, accepted the will because Marcolina and Morelli testified in court March 23, 2005, that they witnessed Savio and Peterson signing the document, Kavanagh said. Peterson dismissed Kavanagh's concerns and asserted that the lawyer is angry that he couldn't notch a hefty sum in legal fees off Savio's case." |

When Smith strayed, Peterson said, "Then I got to walk away." He told the camera crew, "Unhook me, guys." When they removed his microphone, he went back inside his house. And he was worried that she was staying at her boyfriend’s house with the children. And he wanted to make sure, this is the story he told me, that she was leaving from her house in the morning to go to work.- MIKE: What is this thing that you would surveil her though? - MIMS: We monitored every move she made in the morning when she would go to work. - MIKE: You had communication with each other? - MIMS: We had a two-way radio. - JULIET: You felt like, I mean, why were you doing that? Most of them he enjoys talking about, and he spins particularly expansive anecdotes about his time as an undercover narcotics officer. But there is a case Peterson does not want to discuss. It's that of Rachel Mellon, a 13-year-old girl who disappeared from her home 12 years ago today. "Yeah, I worked on that," he said. And he stops right there. Rachel Mellon has quite a bit in common with Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. Both Rachel and Stacy were last seen in their Bolingbrook homes, which are about six miles apart. Rachel and Stacy are both missing. Police presume both are dead, and the police have not charged anyone." "Rachel's father, Jeffrey Skemp, blasted the police for how they handled the case. "I just think that Will County's just inept. I know Bolingbrook is," said Skemp, who lives in Forest Park. "They waited a week before they went in the house. They wait too long before they realize the seriousness of the case. They've just got a terrible track record." The day she was last seen alive, Rachel was home alone with her stepfather, Vince Mellon. She suffered from a sore throat and had called off sick from school. No one realized Rachel was missing until the evening, when Amy Mellon came home from work. Vince Mellon later told police he last saw Rachel about 2:30 p.m. that day, as he was on his way out to take a walk with the family dog, Duke." "On Jan. 29, 2000, police picked up Vince Mellon and held him for nine hours at the Bolingbrook station house. It also mentioned the findings of Dr. Michael Baden, a noted pathologist, who conducted a private autopsy on the remains in November and concluded Savio's death was a homicide. And the petition noted statements made by Neil Shori, Stacy Peterson's pastor, who in December told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren that Stacy said she feared for her life and that her husband had killed Savio." ILL | Greta's "On The Record" Guest: Ric Mims RIC MIMS: I have a blog and I'm putting up my story of my friendship with DP and the timeline after SP went missing. It can be found at www.richardmims.com We've had about 6,000 hits per day. I have a site administrator that helps me, but the writing and responding is mine. - GRETA: DId DP have any known access to her [Kathleen Savio] house at the time when she died? - RIC MIMS: I know that I watched her at work to be sure she did not leave while he went to her house to retrieve a few things. Don't know if was to retrieve something inside or outside. That would have been in late December 2003 or very early January 2004. He does know how to use a locksmith kit. Years ago we had that conversation. He has a little black case full of little picks--they look like dental tools. He showed me it when he was showing me his gun collection. He told me he was trained to use it. I've been before the GJ three times and I'm going back one more time that I know about. I've talked to SA about many things, such as whether DP did any parking ticket fixing and if the blue Dodge truck would fit into a garage with the camper top on it. (?) . |
