On Tuesday, Will County Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak scheduled for April 2 a hearing on a motion by Craig Stebic seeking the return of his car and truck, along with about two dozen firearms that have been held by police since last year. "They've had these items for over nine months, and it's time for him to get his property back," said Stebic's attorney, George Lenard."

Brodsky accused Taylor of "drawing a salary" for his work as a volunteer "search coordinator." He said he was told the money was coming out of funds raised to subsidize the searches. Taylor denied that he has been paid to spearhead the search effort and claimed he has been shelling out his own cash for the cause. "I'm insulted by his comments," he said. "Roy Taylor is not receiving a dime," Taylor said. "Roy Taylor has spent thousands of dollars out of his pocket to make sure this gets done."

Kyle Piry, who was briefly engaged to Peterson in the early 1980s, confirmed she testified Thursday but declined to comment further. “I never thought I’d have to be here after all this time,” Piry said after her testimony. “I didn’t think I was that relevant.” "In previous interviews with media outlets, Piry recounted her relationship with the former Bolingbrook police sergeant. Piry said she broke off their engagement after four months because she wasn’t ready to get married. Vicki Connolly, who was married to Peterson for 10 years, declined to discuss her appearance before the grand jury as she left the Joliet courthouse annex. Connolly told the Tribune last year that Peterson was controlling and told her he could kill her and make it look like an accident." "On Thursday, Peterson said he had no idea why Piry and Connolly were summoned to testify, or what information they had to offer. "They do come out of the woodwork, don't they?" he said. Peterson added that he believes Piry has parlayed their former relationship into media appearances, "and [as for] Vicki, when you have an ex-wife, they're not really happy with you anyway."

"When are they going to bring in Drew's prom date?" Brodsky quipped. Prosecutors may in fact do just that. Peterson attended his Willowbrook High School prom with his first wife, Carol Brown. Charles B. Pelkie, spokesman for State's Attorney James Glasgow, would not disclose whether prosecutors indeed planned to subpoena the prom date turned wife. Brown's husband, Dave Brown, said his wife has not yet been summoned. "No," Dave Brown said. "But I hope they don't." "Peterson has dismissed Connolly's allegations and said, "Vicki is just mad because I cheated on her." Brodsky also questioned the negative comments from the women in Peterson's past. The Village of Oak Brook Fire and Police Commission held a hearing Wednesday [04/09/2008] to decide whether to suspend him for 6 to 15 days for wearing the uniform while testifying. He also drove to the court date in his marked Oak Brook squad car. Television news crews caught him coming and going from the building in which the grand jury convened, and getting into his marked squad car. The footage aired on TV." "Stephen Peterson appeared before the grand jury three times before the television news filmed him Dec. 13. Stephen Peterson explained Wednesday that he wore his uniform that time and on one other occasion because he believed he would be able to return to Oak Brook before the conclusion of his shift at 3 p.m. and would be going back to work. The other two occasions, he said, he doubted he could get back in time, so he took his personal car and wore civilian clothes. "'His poor judgment in using this vehicle brought more negative attention to this department,'Sheahan [Oak Brook Police Chief Thomas Sheahan] told commissioners, who deliberated about 45 minutes before deciding to suspend Peterson. 04/10/2008 "Man who told police of blue barrel appears before grand jury" "A friend of Drew Peterson’s step-brother appeared Thursday [04/10/2008] before a special grand jury investigating the disappearance of Peterson’s fourth wife and the death of his third wife. Although Walter Martineck Jr. of Bolingbrook declined to discuss his grand jury appearance Thursday, his story made headlines in late November when he told media outlets about a bizarre encounter with his friend and neighbor Tom Morphey, Drew Peterson’s step-brother. Martineck said a distraught Morphey came to his home the night Stacy Peterson disappeared and told Martineck he believed he had just helped his step-brother dispose of his wife’s body. Morphey allegedly said he helped Drew Peterson move a large blue barrel from the Peterson’s home to his step-brother’s SUV. Martineck said Morphey believed the barrel contained Stacy Peterson’s body because it was warm to the touch. Shortly after the confession, Morphey allegedly attempted suicide, prompting Martineck to tell state police about the incident two days after Stacy Peterson disappeared on Oct. 28."

She came up to my tavern in an attempt to get romantically involved with me while she was married to somebody else. So Miss. Piry is very angry that I no longer wanted to be with her.

"I think it makes a big statement on the case, and backs up what we've been saying all along." Peterson's neighbor, Sharon Bychowski, said John Morphey called several weeks ago. "He said, 'I would like to offer you my boat.' It's been used pretty much every day this week," she said.
