ILL | Christopher Douglas Vaughn, aka C.D.Vaughn, of Oswego, Illinois, reportedly said he was taking his family to Knight's Action Park, 1700 Recreation Drive, Springfield, IL 62711 on June 14, 2007. Twenty-three miles from home his wife and three children were shot to death in the family red 2004 Ford Expedition SUV. (Vehicle registered StoneBridge Security, Inc.) at a cellular service tower, W Frontage Rd (Will County) Channahon, IL 60410. Reported media stories varied from Vaughn pulled over claiming his wife was feeling sick and then she shot him, apparently he ran and when he returned the whole family was dead, to claiming he stopped to adjust the luggage rack on top of the vehicle and moments later noticed his leg was bleeding, to reports that Vaughn confessed to a extra-martial affair to his wife and then she shot him, to unconfirmed reports that it was a drive-by shooting, to he was getting back into the vehicle when his wife shot him and finally reported that he couldn't remember what happened, "said he knew only that he had been wounded and had gone for help." Christopher Vaughn reportedly "said he had not placed a handgun in the SUV" but a "Taurus PT92 AFS 9mm handgun" was found on the scene and was reportedly purchased by Christopher Vaughn in Washington state. Media also reported that a cell phone was found in the vehicle. Vaughn's wound in his wrist was minor, while the bullet that entered the top of his thigh, from his right side, passed out the left side of the thigh. |
